Ford 7.3L Gas Engine

I that that time is faster than an F150 eco. Granted bigger engine but also a heavier truck. Screamer.

Sure, but a ~$500 tune will put an EB F150 back in front. My tuned 2.7 runs a 4.8 0-60.

Holy Cow Fred!

You know that gas pedal is not just a binary switch, right?

How many back tires have you been through already?

So the thing only has 1000 miles on it, never on the interstate only around town. The dash says 9.8 mpg since new, never been reset; so I lied.

It's near impossible to burn out with it unless you use the sand and snow mode as torque management prevails over all the other shift modes.

A tune would help with torque management for burnouts. I did get it to light up fairly well once I got it rolling a little bit. Big tires, 4:30 gear ratio helps I guess.

It has some nice features, started it with the APP this morning and it automatically defrosted the windows, mirrors. It has some crap options like lack of a rain sensor for auto wipers which most cars I work on have had for 10 years now.

No remote garage door opener, the cruise control doesn't apply the brakes to control speed downhill like (again) many cars have had for years.

The cellphone charge pad is useless because every bump in the road jars the phone (and my teeth) that dislodges it and sends a message across the dash that shows the phone is not charging, Ford can shove all these unwanted messages where the sun never shines.

It's a Lariat, Tremor, $65k of wasted coin that most of us could have used on new chainsaws or a woodmizer mill or more beer better tractor yadayada.

It is a nice machine and pulls a 6000 lb. trailer like it's not there.

I'm getting 14.4 around town with my 7.3 and I have over 20k miles on it. I reset it every time I fuel up or when towing

My 2016 F350 diesel was getting 15.5 around town and diesel is more expensive so it's a wash in my book

I have to stop trying to do burnouts in my driveway to get the mileage back up lol.

I would be tickled to get 14.4 around town if I had Godzilla. Curious of Highway MPG.

The Fred getting 9.8 while doing driveway burnouts is not shabby either.

Thats some pretty good fuel economy IMO..That motor replaced the V10 ..Which I have in my 4x4 F450 DRW dump...I never see above 6.8 mpg. Its usually in the 6.3-6.5 range.

I知 considering buying a new f350 SD with the new 7.3 gas engine, mainly as my daily driver but occasionally to pull a gooseneck trailer. I realize it痴 mpg numbers are what they are. I知 curious to know about the engines reliability if anybody痴 put a decent amount of miles on one yet?

Quite honestly you need to keep a logbook. Or at the very least use calculator to divide miles by gallons purchased. Sometimes the result is only 5% poorer than the Fool Computer. Often it is 20%.

I just bought a Ford v10 and the computer is claiming 11 mpg. I haven’t bothered checking by hand to see what its really getting. I drive pretty easy and it’s 2wd so maybe that’s not totally out of line.

I wonder how long that thing will last, 16 plus pounds of boost is getting up there for a gas engine.
