I always use my safety chains on the highway. I had a boat trailer come loose going up a hill. Hitch was not adjusted right, too young to think to check. If not for the chains, trailer and boat would have been thru the trees. Not on the highway, but enough to teach me what chains are for.
But I do need to rewire one of my trailers. Wiring is really old. I got it new and the manufacturer never hooked up the ground. Just grounded thru hitch, most of the time.
