I always use my safety chains on the highway. I had a boat trailer come loose going up a hill. Hitch was not adjusted right, too young to think to check. If not for the chains, trailer and boat would have been thru the trees. Not on the highway, but enough to teach me what chains are for.
But I do need to rewire one of my trailers. Wiring is really old. I got it new and the manufacturer never hooked up the ground. Just grounded thru hitch, most of the time.

Not sure towing wrong but so wrong towing...

Freinds retired, sold their Bay Area home... she a retired teacher with lots of family in North Carolina.

Driving cross country in Brand new Diesel pickup towing 20' trailer truck broke down in I80... Truck under 4,000 miles.

Dealer and Manufacturer unable to help as part not available anywhere... told 4 to 6 months maybe...

After several days of total frustration traded for brand new gasser... felt they between a rock and hard place...

Towing just made situation complicated because all of thier possessions in unattached trailer in the middle of no where...

Hard to believe they could not get a loaner truck. Easy to believe the dealer did not want to, especially if it was not the seller of the truck. The seller should have provided a loaner. For those that might know of a similar situation with someone they should call RAM or whatever manufacture. Most have a department to handle such things and will resolve issues that dealers want to avoid addressing. Recently had a friend with a less than 6 month and under 30,000 with problems. Dealer gave him some run around. After he called RAM things got handled promptly and would have been to his satisfaction if done to start with.

Problem was a bad ram 68RFE transmission being used well under specifications and weight limits.... not a aisin transmission.

I am not sure if you have inside information that it was RAM, but I instantly *** UMED it was a RAM, but then thought I was letting my BIAS' show.......

Last I heard he was truck shopping for the upcoming move... next I hear home sold quicky and they were on their way...

I asked make and model and what failed and also where.

Moving is stressful and moving across the country more so... got to come up with something quick when all your worldly processions in a unattached trailer in a place you are only passing through.

Wife and I are in a similar situation. Not moving but on vacation. Drove 800 miles today. Wifes jeep started knocking when we turned onto the street for our Airbnb. Limped it into the driveway. Will have it towed first thing Monday morning to the dealership. Hope and prey it's something minor and can be fixed quickly.

If not we'll probably take the beating on a trade in and the wife will get a new buggy.

Worst part is, my truck tanked and got dropped of at the dealership Friday night. So, two vehicles in two days.

2020 is finishing off on a high note.

A Doc I work with had a brand new BMW and it kept throwing codes and many parts replaced over many weeks at the Dealership...

After almost a year of this with loaners the source discovered... One weak valve spring.

Being an SUV he was never able to tow because when the engine was pushed the codes start.

Truck is the oil pressure sending unit, or a clogged screen. Code it threw was for resistance being off.

The jeep on the other hand. That was a knocking. But no smoke or anything. Hoping it's something semi minor, but planning on worst case.

Jeeps a 2011, truck is a 2009. No warranty.

I forget I'm not the only one that doesn't drive new cars... my "New" car as in the newest I own and also bought new is year model 2002.

Then again, even Section 8 tenants in property I manage only drive brand new cars...
