I could have made the grade, but chickened out. Heck, I might even have gotten "Best of Show" in this thread... When I first bought my place it was bare land, so the first thing I did was throw up this 4x8 foot building to store tools, generator and other items. (It also should have had a quarter moon cut into the door. ) It's been sitting unused for 15 years so when my sister wanted a garden shed I offered it to her... never thinking about what I have for a trailer.
After loading it onto my little 4 1/2x8 foot dump trailer I took it down the road to see how it would handle... not well, it turns out. While the trailer has a 2000 lb payload, as you can see the axle is just a bit narrow. I got out of the truck, walked back to the shed and started rocking it... and realized I could probably push the darned thing over. There's no way that I would be able to haul it 120 miles.
I called and told her it would have to wait until I bought a tandem axle trailer, but the next day I put on the backhoe and sunk a 55 gallon drum sans the top. Now if I get the "need" I won't have to rush 1/4 mile to the house... and I have enough lumber around to frame a bigger, better shed, put it on a trailer, and assemble it on site for her next year.

This is true. I hate people who think they are supposed to enforce the law without any authority or training.

One car length space per 10 mph was taught in drivers Ed. But where I drive, it’s generally 1 car length per 5-80 mph, which is why there are so many accidents.

Now the rule of thumb is 2 seconds following time for cars and 4 for large trucks. By going with time it grows with speed.

I'll try to help get this thread back on track. I am glad you accessed your load before traveling 120 miles. That does look sketchy with one good gust of wind possibly tipping it over.

Not sure towing wrong but so wrong towing...

Freinds retired, sold their Bay Area home... she a retired teacher with lots of family in North Carolina.

Driving cross country in Brand new Diesel pickup towing 20' trailer truck broke down in I80... Truck under 4,000 miles.

Dealer and Manufacturer unable to help as part not available anywhere... told 4 to 6 months maybe...

After several days of total frustration traded for brand new gasser... felt they between a rock and hard place...

Towing just made situation complicated because all of thier possessions in unattached trailer in the middle of no where...

For the life of me I cannot ever understand that a part, solenoid or an engine assembly could possibly take months to get!! Worked at a skidsteer mfg. plant and shipping dept. would come and steal parts from the line all the time. So I just don't get it. A friend of mine also waited months for a small car tranny that was under warranty. They rented a car for him for the whole time. Are the parts coming from Mars?

Flew up behind a car trailer towed at 30 mph UNDER the speed limit with a quad runner hooked to a small trailer on it. Not a strap on it.
Passed him when I had the chance, trailer lights wire and safety chains still wrapped around the tongue. Beat up fencing truck.
But it was all OK. He was going slow.
