I was wondering if I would have to post that one myself here! Snowmobile man got a ticket - but not for the improper load, only for not wearing his seat belt. He got only a warning for "over width load"

I read the article on this and I'm confused. It states that the driver still had Minnesota plates on the car because he bought it last spring in Minnesota and hasn't transferred the title. Is that legal there? Does that mean he's driving around on the previous owners plates? If so, does he have insurance? Its not legal to do so where I'm located. Even if it was I'd never sell a vehicle to someone and allow them to drive away with my plates and possibly get in an accident. I can just imagine the lawsuit for that. That Trooper was either very generous or stupid to not give more tickets.

Nice to hear reports when law enforcment isn't just about "taxation".

It wasn't that long ago that cops here in Ontario would try and find a way to get a drunk driver home safely.

They did the first year I was in college, also. Then the first weekend of my second semester a classmate crossed the center line while on the way home from a party, killing himself and an oncoming motorist while sending his passengers to the hospital. Things have changed a lot since then.

I could be totally wrong, but it doesn't seem that Intoxicated drivers causing harm has gotten any less. Or to put it another way. Back then, you didn't here of many cases of drunks killing people. It didn't seem to be a rgular occurrence. Not more than now.

Thats because now ANY driver that has had ANY thing to drink is now a DRUNK & a KILLER.
Doesn't matter if they didn't have an accident or do anything, had a drink = DRUNK & a KILLER.

Glad, at leat one other person in the world thinks a little like me.

I have no doubt that there are far worse drivers out there that are sober.

Here too, then they figured out, "Ain't no money in that, in fact ain't no money in any of that public service silliness!"
I haven't heard about getting a warning for ANYTHING here in a long, long time.

In Quebec there is an organization called "NEZ ROUGE" (Red Nose)
Volunteers will drive U home in your car but for a simple phone call.
They generally run the service during the Xmas season.

Takes a car and 2 drivers as they always drive the inebriated in his own car in case he gets an 'upset stomach'.
At Xmas most bars have the Nez Rouge phone # well posted.

I think in a lot of states, there is now a law that if a policeman stops someone that is drunk, they can not let him go. Some of this was passed by MADD, mothers against drunk driving. I know years ago I had a drunk run into me. Police came and knew him. Took him to jail, tested him and he was drunk. Turned him loose, no ticket, no charges, no insurance. It cost me. I had to pay to have my truck fixed. I was told by my insurance agent that this was to 4th wreck from this same guy in the past six months. He and his friends are the reason they no longer let people go.
