What am I Missing? 1991 Ford F-350 hood latch

The only piece on the hood is the pop-up spring that rests on the top of the Latch when the hood is closed. It causes the hood to pop up some when the hood release is pulled. There is nothing on the hood to latch into the lower mechanism. I will get better photos.

Again... your picture & the picture in post #50 look exactly like my functioning hoods do.
You are missing NOTHING.
The latch hooks on the hood under the spring. NO extra pieces.

No, that is the next generation latch, your body style has the catch as that plate welded into the hood.

The latch in the picture is CLOSED.
Open it from inside the truck THEN close the hood.
