Ron, great pic. I also added looking for the grease sale at TSC for next time I go...thanks LS.

Went back out to feed birds...even though porch thermometer says 41F, there are patches of frost on the roof...none on ground or on the truck, though. Not ready for killing frost...usually expect it in mid-October.

Adding on, guess I wasn't finished beaching.
When we moved in, 2 weeks ago, I tried going around and labeling all the wall switches. Figured out all but 1, and it's still an orphan.
I'm betting that somewhere there's a switched outlet that's not real obvious. Can't figure out any other reason for a switch to be on a living room wall.
One possible - across the room and down a short dead end hall (between bedrooms) there's an outlet 5' high in the end wall. What possible reason for that odd placement? Clock, lit picture? I dunno. I'll get a plug-in lamp and see if the switch controls it.

I wasn't expecting September to be this cool. 36 this morning. The heat has been on for the last week. Good working weather but dry and dusty. The grass has slowed down so I can keep up with it mowing once a week. The corn at the farm is drying out nicely. Won't be too long till it gets harvested. Still getting green beans and tomatoes from the garden. The local peaches are real good. Honeycrisp apples are in.

mpham.
"Got the mower off and the snow blower mounted to the rear of the tractor."
You know something about old man winter coming early this year.

16 Thomas days and only 8 more actual work days to go!
Kinds like Christmas count down when we were tadpoles. ;)

Ron, I once flew to eastern Algeria to replace a relief valve that I had told the dealer and customer was the problem. Both told me I didn稚 know what I was talking about. And both convinced management it was a massive failure and had basically ordered a complete new hydraulic system to install. I was sent to supervise. But I hand carried the relief valve and had the machine fixed and back in service 45 minutes after arriving at the mill. There were lots of red faces.

Good morning. It's a very comfortable 63° this morning with a North wind at 6 mph. Our high is forecast to only get to 82° this afternoon.

It's becoming less likely that "Beta" will bring us meaningful rain this week. We've now got 7 big burn piles but .. I'd like a bit of rain prior to lighting any of them.

I pushed out three more long dead trees, in the far reaches of our "horse pasture" yesterday. I'll need to cut them into 10-12' sections today, in order to get between trees and to the closest burn pile.

Then, I mowed about half of the 9 acres around the house yesterday .. just in case we do actually get some rain this week.

Kyle .. Happy Birthday to your bride.

Drew .. good luck with your upcoming move.

Where's Jay?

Hope everyone has a peaceful Sunday.

Prayers to all.

Good Morning!!!! 64F @ 5:00AM. Sunny. Areas of smoke and haze are possible, reducing visibility at times. High around 90F. Winds light and variable.
AQI 78 and 194, inside and out. Time to get the mask out again...

Hope you find the answer to the mystery outlet, ChuckT. Have you got the breaker panel figured out yet?

Always nice when a new neighbor turns out to be a nice guy, Thomas!

There have been a couple of mulch piles spontaneously combust out here, RS. Might want to kee 'em spread out so they don't get so hot.

Good luck with your electronics shopping, Drew. Amazon reviews are good for helping to sort through the new names out there...

Yesterday turned into more of a putter day than I thought it would. Started off by replacing the wire to the outlet on the workbench, now there's a ground where there should have been all along.

Checked the alternator bearings, and they're fine, as was the belt tension. Turns out the AC and power steering pump share a different belt, and tightened that one again so it doesn't slip. Pulled both alternator connections and treated them to a DeOxIt bath, checked battery connections, too, and now alternator warning lamp stays out, at least in the driveway it does. We'll see if it stays that way next trip to town. Maybe it doesn't like hot weather?

Tried again to add a Power over Ethernet injector and network switch to the generator housing. The LED in the PoE injector still didn't come on, but it did power the switch, so now it's all set for another security camera out there. Which has been on backorder for a few weeks now.

Added another magnet to one of the garage door sensors that stopped working, and now it's happy.

Started a firmware update on the network box, and it's still running. Something's not right there, so will have to fuss with it after breakfast.

Wishing you all a pleasant and peaceful Sunday...

Three of us once got a coast-to-coast trip to fix a PC running data acquisition software. Turns out someone had left a notebook resting on the keyboard, and all it needed was a restart. :confused2:

had a great walk this morning, wind had died down, said hi to a few neighbors walking their dog. I remembered to wear my cap and it was much warmer.

Ron, likely this may be last tv I buy for a while...but I've said that before, so want to make sure it's good enough, but not willing to pay for top of line. As long as it is "smart", has a tuner, etc
and will likely last for next ten years, I'll be happy. 500 bucks buys a lot of tv today. I remember when the top of the line tv's like the Pioneers cost 8 grand, and early adopters couldn't wait to buy them. When I owned my electronics business there was always someone who wanted the very latest and very best. I always figured it was best to wait a year or two, prices were usually less than half. Today electronics are a real bargain, laptops, tv's, home phones, RNG's oscilloscope... What is no bargain in my mind are latest smart phones, seem way overpriced to me. But I bet the 1400 dollar ones are selling like hotcakes on a cold morning.
great bird pic this morning, always nice to see

Going to call my 93 year old MIL shortly, always a nice call and I know she appreciates it.

Are you sure you want a "smart" TV, Drew? Certain brands, and Samsung is one of them, are infamous for listening in surreptitiously to your conversations. Mine doesn't get a network connection for that reason, and instead I stream content to it with an Apple TV and a DVR. The DVR always seems to have something worth watching on it, and it's wonderful the way it fast forwards through the commercials...

   / Good morning!!!! #119,053
RNG, thanks but you've lost me.
How does the tv listen in on telephone conversations, I assume tracking data?
Granted Comcast provides it all, including my home phone number which I assume
is VOIP.
I know that even with a "private window" cable company tracks every website I visit, but never knew my phone
was at risk. How does that work? Is this an issue also for Zoom?

Why Amazon Has A Fake Review Problem - YouTube
Good luck with your electronics shopping, Drew. Amazon reviews are good for helping to sort through the new names out there...

the problem is that apparently 40 percent of Amazon reviews are fake...
this video is eye opening

Good morning to all! Low of 40, definitely a chill in the air. High today should be around 82, already up to 64. Hazy due to smoke hanging in the area.

Kyle, tell the Mrs to have a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Drew, good luck with the TV shopping..... I still like dumb tv's. Basically we only watch the local news and PBS channels.

Ron, fantastic pic of the bird feeder. Amazing color on the woodpecker.

Yesterday was a success with the garden tractor.... well for only the carb replacement portion. It was easier to do than anticipated, and she fired right up after completion. Purred like one of Thomas's kittens.... then I started on the oil change, only to realize that I did not purchase the oil nor the filter for it. So, went to the auto parts store and got all the supplies. I'll finish with that this morning.

Since the engine is running great, and all the other parts are in working order on the tractor, I decided to do the maintenance on the K66 hydro transmission. Only problem is getting to it. Either have to take it off the tractor, or remove 90% of the body metal. I want to give it a thorough cleaning under there, so I guess the body metal is coming off.... should be interesting....

Well, time to get started.... Everyone have a great day!

bummer, my fireman friend can't do the move, so just spent last hour sending out four online quote requests
dealing with unknowns is not comfortable for me but no choice now

due to sunny day got warm inside rv, decided no a/c, but rather put on roof fan and opened a window. That sure worked nicely...

I had the same situation when we moved into this house. There's a workshop under the same roof as the house and that shop has 2 duplex outlets on each wall, plus a 220V outlet on one wall. And there's 2 switches just inside the back door. One of them is for a light just outside the door. But the other switch took me awhile to figure out. It controls a duplex outlet in the ceiling. The prior owner had a table saw right under that outlet with his power cord going straight up.

I noticed my geo system was putting out heat this morning. Was 39° out at 830. Mine is automatic, I don’t have to switch anything.

57F and sunny @ 11:30, today's high predicted to hit 67F. Zero percent chance of precipitation.

It will be a good day to get some work done outside ...

... There have been a couple of mulch piles spontaneously combust out here, RS. Might want to kee 'em spread out so they don't get so hot. ...

Yeah ... if it were as dry and hot here as it is there, it might be an issue. Doubtful that it will become a problem though.

Hope your air clears up soon and you get some rain ...

Drinking second cup of coffee. 34ー with clear skies this morning. Heading to 68ー with sunny skies. Never got to lawn trimming yesterday. TV in bedroom would not scan all channels. Went to Sam's Club and bought a new one. Need to watch what you but. Many 4K TV's do not have a over the air tuner. By the time I got TV's switched out it was afternoon. Some garden pond maintenance this morning. The start trimming.

Enjoy the weather and your time outside.

Lots of critter action at bird feeders yesterday.

That's a beauty ...

RS, great photos.

Thanks ...

Nice twilight picture rswyan

Thanks.

64F in the house would feel really cold to me too, so you're sure not alone in that regard.

Drew,

Good luck on the move ... I'm sure it will work out ...

Phil,

Hope you get furnace issues worked out, glad you have pellet stove.

... RS full day again, hope you can stay in the sun :) ...

Managed to for the most part ... ;)

On the grass slowing down ... that's not real likely - usually cool temps + adequate moisture + lots of sun will have it growing like mad ...

Glad you guys are getting cooler temps and the possibility of rain ...

Happy Birthday to Mrs. Kyle !

69°F and .09 inches rain and raining.
Guess what I do today will depend on the weather. Maybe watch some football.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day
