Tractor
Branson 3515 CH
Just looking for opinions. When I bought my tractor (Branson 3515Ch) I was debating on whether or not to go with the 4015Ch for about $1000 more. I almost did. The only difference between the 2 tractors is that the 40 is turbo charged. Exact same engine. I have never been crazy about turbo chargers. I always looked at them as something else to possibly go wrong, and they may shorten the engines life. What do you guys think? Everything else on the tractors was identical.

I'm certain you will be pleased with your choice. NOW, about using that $$$ saved and NEEDING added implements..............

Once you make a choice it's best to stick with it. No matter how much you shop around there always seems to be a better deal just after you write the check. As Oosik says, you now have enough money left to buy your first implement.

You are the only one that can pleased with your decision, doesn't matter what anyone else thinks. Tractor is one part of the equation, implements are another part of the equation. Tractor without the right implements, you will be unhappy. Tractor with right implements will increase you odds of being very happy.

Your lack of elevations means turbo would have less total impact for you. That being said, I love me some turbo :)
you will be fine.

Terrible choice, drop your old one at my house and get the one with the turbo:laughing: The only reason you would miss the turbo is if you need the HP for something like a bigger mower or other high HP implement. The usefulness of a tractor has more to do with its weight and power of the hydraulics. Enjoy the new machine and post up a pic of it.

I agree. With your low elevation, I doubt the turbo would be needed. However, it also depends on what your specific hp demands are. No one else can know better than YOU what your requirements are. As long as the tractor you pick can meet those requirements (for you), then you are good.

Do you know what your biggest hp demand will be? We're talking about pto driven attachments here. And we don't know what your plans are.

I'm totally satisfied with my non-turbo tractor. But I'm also (like you) at low elevation. If I was in high elevation, I would have looked hard at the turbo engined units. So far the only pto driven tool I have is my 6' rotary mower, and I have plenty of power to run that. There is a 6' pto driven snow blower in my near future, and I'm sure I have enough hp for that too.

And yeah, post some pics of that tractor. We like pics of tractors.

I am perfectly happy with my choice. Love my rig. And I doubt I'll need more hp. The biggest implement that will be hooked to it will be a 6' brush hog or a 6' tiller. I appreciate all the feedback. I did put that money I saved to use. So far I got a set of pallet forks and a box blade. Been using both extensively. redtrac.jpgredtrac2.jpgredtrac5.jpgredtrac4.jpg My son had gotten himself in trouble that day, so he was washing the tractor as a punishment.redtrac1.jpg

I hear that a lot about worrying about turbos. They seem to go out more in gas engines than diesels.
Military trucks had diesel turbos years ago, so nothing new with a diesel and turbo, never heard of many problems with those.
Like another poster said, as long as you are happy, that is all that is important.
You could line 10 people up and they would have 10 different opinions about what brand, size or add ons you should get. That is what makes the world go round.

Many years ago (seems like a lifetime - early 80's) I used to hang wallpaper. When I first started I was doing mostly residential work ... usually dealt with housewives. I would often get asked what I thought about the wallpaper, wasn't it "beautiful" and the like. I learned very early to tell them "as long as you like it, I'm happy" and never gave my personal opinion - even if I did like it.

The same holds true with tractors. Only you know if you "made a mistake". As long as your tractor is doing what you want/need and you are happy with it ... you did NOT make a mistake (regardless of what others may want/need/think)

I am glad you are happy with your purchase! My son was home this morning so I asked him to do something wrong so I could make him wash my tractor after reading your post. He said no thanks I'm good.

Nice try. I was just thinking it might be time to give the Branson another bath. I wonder if he realizes his homework is late...... He's homeschooled, so I make the rules.

Your concerns about unreliability of turbos is for the most part a moot point...been watching too many tractor pulling videos. Kind of funny, I was looking for a tractor WITH a turbo!

By the looks of that log, you need to be looking at grapples!

Congrats on the new tractor, looks like a great one...enjoy. It's easy to second guess ourselves, find "better" deals after we have bought.

You have to give something, to gain something else, whichever choice you make. For the same situation, one can choose one way and another the other; both make the right decision, depending on the choices they defend.

They always seem to get bigger once they hit the ground.

A grapple would help you for sure. However, I would highly recommend getting something on the 3pt hitch when using your loader first. With a load like that and no rear ballast, the front end is under a lot of stress. It can only do that so long before something gives.
