52F and "fair" @ 09:15, was 49F outside @ 07:00 and 69F in the house when I got up. Turned on the heat for the first time this season. High today is predicted to hit 73F.

High tomorrow will be around 80F, but we'll have a low later this week in the low 40's ...

Got cut grass around culvert all picked up and added to the compost pile and covered.

Five or six bucketloads of (previously) screened soil added to east planting bed, mostly on the lower end, to reduce slope. It took a lot of time to spread it out and pick out weeds that had grown in the pile because it wasn't tarped  And when I grabbed the next to the last bucket it had a yellow jacket nest in it ... ... propane weed burner took care of them though ...

Did get the composted cow manure, peat moss, and soil sulphur added and mixed in to the one planting hole though. Still have to dig out the other one and prep it.

I was working in cutoffs and a t-shirt ... around 17:30 or 18:00 I had to head in and grab a long-sleeved shirt because it was actually starting to feel chilly. Quit around 20:00 and came inside as it was getting too dark to see.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable, productive, and safe day ...

Need a trip to Rural King to pick up a revolver I bought.

Mostly, how do you get a dog in mope mode. Sassy is always on go mode.

Love revolvers. Whadja get? Pictures, of course, or it didn't happen.

Our dogs mope pretty much every evening while The Wife is gone. They all three lay out in the sunroom pouting, waiting for her to come home. Apparently, she's more fun than I am.

Good morning to all! Low of 50, going for a high of 82. No rain.

Got a bit more of organization done in the shop. Mainly clearing of those little scraps of wood that I save "that are still usable". It is amazing how fast they multiply! Started a burn barrel and got most of them gone!

I always wanted to get a boat, had friends that had boats from sailboats to cabin cruisers and everything in between. I could never afford one when I was a young man... now that I could, we live in the mountains of the high desert..... far away from any big bodies of water!

Need to do some errands today, maybe make a Costco run. Maybe a stop at HF if I go to Costco.... Then some shop time.

Everyone have a great day!

Good Morning!!!! 70F @ 8:30AM. Some clouds this morning will give way to generally sunny skies for the afternoon. High 91F. Winds light and variable.
AQI this morning: 248 outside, 133 inside. It was lower inside earlier, I suppose the home's envelope isn't as tight as I thoght.

Yesterday's winds never materialized, at least not in the strength anticipated, so the firefighters were able to hold their lines and, in the area closest to me, connect more of them. They also made good progress on contingency lines to the south and west, which will be of no immediate help, but do bring comfort to the embattled town of Paradise, or what's left of it. By 3 PM the winds had cleared enough smoke that scouting and tanker aircraft were aloft for the first time since the fire started, and several hot spots were addressed. They were flying in and out of Chico for fuel and retardant, and I enjoyed a beer on the back porch tracking them with the FlightTrader24 app on the phone. Tasty and Stubby also cleaned out the last of the meal worms, and were hungry for more. Two more people arrested in the evacuation area, one had a stolen vehicle parked in his driveway, the other one was trying to water her illegal pot grow.

Started in on the evap system plumbing for the van, and got it done. The holes for the charcoal canister bracket were already there, but were stripped. Nothing's simple on this vehicle. Had to make up a restricter in the line running to the evap valve, which my information said needed an impossibly small 0.006" diameter hole. I was fresh out of laser drills, but did have a #80, and the little spring loaded drill chuck to go with it. Got a good one on the second try, and it seems to be doing its job. The van starts and there is no apparent change to the idle speed, so I let my friend know I was ready for a smog check and am waiting to hear back on the appointment. Finished up by giving the engine/transaxle a Gunk bath, then hosed it off with the RG. The hot water washer would have done a better job, but that'll be good enough until I can get in there and fix the leaks.

52 and almost chili this morning, 73 later.
Sitting in the cardio docs office listening to the ultra sound next door, waiting for the doctor.
Another tweak on the meds and I’m out the door. BP 130/64, still working on the erratic heart rate. But I feel fine so I’m not complaining.

69°F and .04 inches rain.

Got another couple hours to finish mowing the Laupahoehoe end of property which includes the coconut palms along the driveway.

Friends in Oregon doing OK, tense as they watch the maps and house security camera like RNG they have springers on their roof.

Introduced Makani to the doggie door. A bit of a challenge yet for his size. Interesting that when he couldn’t figure it out both Kekoa and Simba helped out by going thru on their own. Once they had the flap open he could do it.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Some of my friends had Bajas, Formulas, Scarabs, Checkmates, and one big bucks Apache. They are all quality hulls.
Mine was in the middle somewhere, 62 mph stock with a small valve 454, about 78 on the built 502 with N20. MPH are a lot harder to come by on the water, from 60 mph on, it takes about 10 h.p. Per mph.

my friend's 31 Formula had HP Mercruiser big blocks, not sure whether 454 or 502
Twin High Performance 425hp. Top Speed 75mph
He always had the Need For Speed...still does

Also got some good news from the Oregon Kubota dealer yesterday.

First, they're open and undamaged. Both the Harley and BMW motorcycle dealerships in Medford burned down last week.

Second, they're processing a warranty claim on the defective valve body and it will be replaced free of charge.

I just hope Kubota has one in stock. It took almost a month to get this one...
