I also was able to read the first 1.5 sentences, before it faded to oblivion and the only option was to hit the blue subscribe button . . . .

Ahhh. I figured it out. You can read 5 WSJ stories per month for free. Since I don't go there very often, that's why I could read it. I think if you delete your cookies, you can read 5 more.

36,560 in 2018 on u.s. roads was last annual count I could find.
Motor vehicle fatality rate in U.S. by year - Wikipedia

174,000+ u.s. covid deaths since March 2. That's less than 6 months.

So on track for 350,000ish u.s. covid deaths in 12 months VS 36,560 = about 10 times more people will die in the U.S. this year from COVID compared to the same time period for U.S. car fatalities.

Works for me actually. My SS will last longer with less people collecting it..................

Could i just correct some fake news (bullshxt) that is being reported n the press and emanating from near or at the top of your administration. (there does that make it non political) It has been spoken about that here in NZ we're having a terrible time and are going backwards. while we have had months without a positive case and had 11 the the other day I don't think that can compare with the 41,000 + cases reported on the same day in the USA. Even if it was looked at from a per head of population perspective its infinitesimal. Methinks he who complains of fake news is the generator and spreader of fake news.

Well the entire thread is political on its face and should have never been started unless you want political comments. The mods run hot and cold on riding herd on political comments, with some adding their own political spin. Then the hammer comes down and the Covid threads are locked. If you don't want political conflict on these forums then don't start controversial politic threads. And if the mods and administration want to appear fair and even handed. (notice the use of the weasel word "appear") then they should shut down threads that are political in nature immediately.

What's the old saying? "don't start no sh**, won't be no sh**"

I think that is a good motto to live by here.

Funny how that happens... with our very own moderator here being the most hypocritical of all.

I should have known not to look at this thread, knowing full well that every paranoid, neurotic on this website would have some inane comment to share!

Your story reminds me if the first time I met my girlfriends grandparents. This was back in my late teens when cordless clippers and razors were just starting to become available but weren't all that great.

There was a big snow storm that knocked out power. After the roads were cleared up, we drove over to check on her grand parents.

Her granddad had about a third of his face shaved. The rest was 7 day old beard. He only shaved on Saturday night He had corded electric razor and clippers. Just as he started to clip his beard the power went out. He had 11 days worth of beard on 2/3rds of his face before he got his power back on so he could use his clippers
