TWO DOWNsides of sandals are loading horses and sunburnt feet, have experienced both, neither are pleasant and a combination is bad.

Let us know if your feet sweat? I'm thinking that a lot of Croc Lovers fudge on that question. I'd even consider a pair if my feet don't swim.

I USED to be a Croc Lover. I must have a dozen pairs. Then about 2018 they switched their manufacturing to outsource and the quality control went to heck. I mail-ordered 3 pair (great sale price), slightly different colors, same size as what I had been wearing for years. Two pair were way to small and didn't fit. All 3 pair stamped the same size. The straps on all 3 pair were so short they didn't fold back over the heel. Was going to cost $45 to return. I gave the small pairs away and cut the straps on the other pair.
Yes, my feet perspire. For casual wear around the house and shop they are great and my feet keep cool. Don't buy them unless you can try them on.

The only time I mumble to myself about someone wearing flips or sandals is when I see someone shopping in a store when it is 10 degrees out. Really chaps me off for some unknown reason.
My feet seldom get cold and I wear slip-ons year around. I will wear Pac-boots while out on the snowmachine though and I keep warm boots in the vehicles in case if a breakdown. I wear shorts and tank tops in the house year around also. No suits, no ties and no dress slacks. At this age, I'd rather be comfortable.

While we're on the topic, exactly what is it that is dangerous about wearing Crocs, flip-flops, Tevas, or Keene sandals while using a riding mower?

They can get caught on the pedals, just like in a car.

Nothing. That's why I wear sandals/shorts/wife-beater in the heat of summer while tooling around on my mower, because all that is perfectly fine for the occasion.
But hey, if somebody else feels inclined to wear steel toe boots, chaps, a kevlar condom, a welding shield, ear plugs with noise cancellation headphones, and also don't forget to strap on the ar-15 just in case...have at it. Dorks.

If my feet are up on the push levers of my Gravely, I have other issues to worry about, lol. I wear sandals almost all summer long when working around the house. Spent the last couple weekends in the barn building the staircase to the loft, work bench under the loft, all with sandals and carhart shorts on. Fail to see the issue here. If I drop a board on my foot, going to hurt just as much as if I was wearing my merrels (not steel toed). Don't really see how the type of shoe I'm wearing determines how the final product looks.
However, if I'm going to do some chainsawing, then yes, definitely putting jeans and shoes on despite the outside temp. That's just common sense. But, to drive the tractor around to move dirt, lumber, ect, ya, I'll probably be wearing flip flops in the summer. I don't like my feet sweating, and the wife doesn't enjoy extra laundry to do.

I've heard it many times that it's illegal to drive in flip flops. However, I can't find any laws against it. For that matter, the only thing I can find is numerous reports that there are no states with legislation that prohibits it. So if anyone can actually find a law against it, please post it.
With that said, I did find numerous articles about the dangers of driving with flip flops, and the number one reason mentioned is that they can get caught under the gas pedal, preventing you from lifting your foot to move it to the brake pedal.
Also, and again contrary to many things we've all heard, I can't find any legislation that prohibits barefoot driving, with the exception of Alabama, that doesn't allow barefoot driving of motorcycles.
In fact, most states discourage the use of flip flops and high heels when driving, but it's not illegal. Most studies I found say it's safer to drive barefoot than in flip flops or high heels.
If anyone has any info to the contrary, I'd like to see it. Thanks.
