Yes, like Jstpssng said. Brakes are located on right side just above treadle. clutch peddle is on the left. I haven't read the manual in quite some time, but you use the clutch always to shift from neutral to gear. Or, let out slowly while engaging pto. I now notice though, that for some time now I've had to sometimes let the clutch back out, push the treadle, and then push the clutch in and slide the selector into gear. It wouldn't go in gear on first try. right there I should have looked at clutch adjustment but the tractor has been out at my parents place after their deaths and I've since taken it out of there, but its been used while I was away for many of the hours. I'm just hoping its out of adjustment and not wore. I will not be about to check it out until I get back home in 3 weeks. What life has many gotten out of their clutches? I realize this would be premature for sure, just curious. What's the cost, the dealer here said between 3-5000$. 20 hours work, not hard with the right tools he said. Anyway, I'm out here trapped for 3 weeks thinking about it and won't be satisfied until I get back to try and adjust it. I really need it this winter as I'm building a new place.

Kinda makes sense... being that it has a treddle. The HST that I had, there were 2 pedals, forward and reverse. Brakes were on the left. Electric PTO switch/ clutch.
My current gear tractor has the clutch on the left, brakes on the right. Still has electric PTO Switch/clutch.

Thanks for clarifying. I tried doing a search to see the setup, but couldn't come up with anything.

Yes, to engage the pto, I push in the clutch on left floorboard, then pto lever is by my left hip when sitting in tractor. Then slowly let out the clutch. There is then one rocker type peddle for forward and reverse on right floor board, along with the two brakes

Your Mahindra has a 2-stage Live PTO clutch, and BOTH the clutch pedal cable and PTO cable are out of major adjustment. It will continue to get worse, to the point you will not be able to engage the PTO someday or even change HST gear.

Proper adjustment of both the Clutch cable and PTO controls is all that is required. These typical get out of adjustment on most tractors with a live PTO between 400 to 600 hours.

God I hope your right RadememJ1. Your pretty sure this sounds like the issue? I'm thinking its what it is as well, but I didn't get a chance to try it before having to drive 500 miles to work. Another 2 weeks I guess we will know for sure. If you think it is the adjustment, do you think it could have put much wear on the clutch plates? First I heard it was that 15 minutes I moved it. though like I said before, I did notice for quite some hours that I couldn't slide the selector smoothly into Low without sometimes letting out the clutch and touching the treadle for a second before trying again. Anyway, Hope your right.

I can only infer what is possibly wrong. However, all your descriptions of what's wrong with your tractor, fits very closely to what my tractor experienced last month, which needed both clutch and PTO cable adjustments. And just like you, I initially thought it was a major clutch problem that requires a mechanical split of the tractor. It took me many hours the first time to make these cable adjustments, but now I can do the adjustment on both cables in 1 hour.
