Does anyone here have any experience with Toro's MyRide operator platform suspension system?

I'm looking for a new mower and sat (did not operate) on one that had the system, and it seemed pretty slick, but I'm not sure of the "gimmick factor".

Thanks.

I own the Toro Timecutter HD with 54inch deck and Myride platform. This is my 3rd year of ownership and I am very pleased with this unit. The Toro was a big upgrade from the Troy Bilt Mustang zero turn that I previously owned. The Toro is heavy duty and has better drive units and higher blade tip speed. It has adjustable road speed and the MyRide system takes the punishment out of mowing uneven ground. It has an adjustment range for the type of ride you want to create. I have not had 1 ounce of problems with this unit. I have added a hitch ball to the back of my Toro and use this for pulling a dump trailer, and sprayer. It has become a workhorse for around the house projects.

Did I say I really am happy with this purchase?

Thank you. It sounds as if the MyRide is not just a gimmick.

I have the TIMECUTTER with 60" deck. Unfortunately, that combination doesn't have the MyRide system available. But when I go over some bumps across the yard, I often wonder how much the MyRide would smooth them out.

Drive a MyRide and then drive a Ferris with 4 independent suspension. The Ferris is much smoother. I went to a dealership and drove both. There is also a video with a bump course. The rider on the Ferris is smooth vs the harsh ride on the Toro MyRide. Still have my Toro ZMaster 255 and this is the 21st season. Don't know how many more years my back can take it.

I thought I read something though about the 4 wheel independent suspension causing the cut to be uneven because the suspension is constantly moving the mower deck. Have you heard that?

If you check out the videos of me mowing on our TIMECUTTER - you'll see that it can be a bumpy ride over some of the areas of the yard. My TIMECUTTER videos are on Purple Collar Life on YouTube.

I was told this by 2 Toro dealers. The Toro people claim the deck stays more level on the Ferris and scalps small high humps where the Toro rides up and down on small humps. When I watched the video the deck and the rider moved up an down much less on the Ferris going over bumps.

See if they will let you demo one on your lawn.

When I was in the market for my ZTR I tried the Ferris with IFS and the Kubota motor. I didn't find it any smoother than the Kubota I eventually bought. For me the deal breaker was Ferris cost the same amount as the Kubota but the mower deck was fully manual vs hydraulic on the Kubota. For what they charge on these things I expect a Cadillac with everything to be powered or automatic. My lasting impression is that the Ferris suspension is a gimmick.

I would highly recommend getting an air ride seat if that option is available to you. My OEM seat had a mechanical suspension with 3/4" travel. I installed an air ride grammer seat base with about 2" travel and it really helps reduce the pogo stick action abuse.

A flip up deck would be nice to make scraping and blade changes easier. The older I get the harder it gets for me on my ZD326.

Well I bought the Toro Titan with MyRide. It was delivered yesterday in time to cut my grass. I'm very impressed.

I cut grass at my trap shooting club with a zero turn. Part of the property is rutted (as is part of my own yard), and it's brutal to mow these sections. We put a suspension seat on it and it was a great improvement, but the MyRide is significantly better.

Additionally, the cut was beautiful. I'm very happy with it - especially for the price.

I've heard great things about the Titan. Did you get the 60" deck? What are your thoughts after the initial mow? I'd be interested to know about gas consumption. My TIMECUTTER with the 60" deck really uses a ton of gasoline. I talk about it in this video: #30: Toro TIMECUTTER Zero Turn Mower First Break-in Oil Change at 5 Hours. Quick, Clean, Easy! - YouTube

Yes, I did get the 60" deck. I was very impressed with the cut quality. I can't tell you much yet about fuel consumption because my other mower had a smaller fuel tank, and I started mowing yesterday with 2 partially filled gas cans. It didn't seem much different. I'll keep you posted.

Ordered the Big Boy spring kit for my Titan 60" My Ride. I'm a heavy guy, even at the top setting, I have the seat moved forward a notch and still sit forward in the seat to keep from bottoming out. Some parts of the yard look smooth but are far from that. I do slow down a tad on those spots, but want to sit back and relax. Loving the mower. Oil change done at 5 hrs, just over ten hrs now.

Watching those vids, they obiously don't own the mowers. Drive it like you stole it.

That's why you never ever buy used equipment that a mowing service has used.

I also bottomed out the MyRide and where someone described riding like a small canoe is correct. Looks like Toro is coming out with a zero turn with suspension. Look for MyRide to disappear.

I don't buy the canoe comparison. Had canoes for many years, when you tip, you go over. The My Ride system is quite firm in the shocks, yet forgiving in the rough stuff. Simple answer, don't go so darn fast. I don't beat my truck up on rough gravel roads.
I like the comment about removing lumber before mowing.

For me it wasn't the side to side motion but the uneven front to back movement. Hopefully the new springs will help out.

Where did you hear that?
