this is where the chain attaches to the spring. new part is unavailable.what do I do? Help please!

ok, thank you! That is encouraging. I spent a lot of time restoring it and it is only the second season. It cuts waist high, thick grass, without clogging.

The welding shop should know how to handle cast. If they don’t they should be able to recommend another shop that can. But willing to bet that any established shop can handle the job. It does being cast require some special processes, I am no welder, but know it takes a certain type of rod or wire and needs to be preheated and cooled slowly.
