5045d dash issues

Hi folks,

I have a 2012 JD5045d, 450hrs. Gas gauge works when the tank is full, tach works when it feels like working. Sometimes that could be in the heat or cold weather. Ive bang on the dash, that is not helpful. For a JD with low hrs I was thinking we should get better life of these sealed unit.

Is there any options to buy a new unit other than the dealer. These are pricey in Canada. Anyone ever had one repaired?

Your suggestions and or help are greatly appreciated.

I suggest to locate,clean & tighten ground connection(key 19) on wiring harness close to instrument panel. There's normally a ground connection built into wiring harness but I didn't locate it when viewing parts schematics.

I have a 2009 JD 5055E and have the same problem with the Tach, if I run it long enough, it starts working again. I just ignore it, but i'll get to it later this year. I listen to the engine for the PTO speed, my bushhog is the only implement that needs to run at full PTO speed.

Same on my 2008 JD 5303. Some times it works some times it doesn’t. Usually after running a little starts working. Have found setting by ear can get real close to target RPM. Will be curious to hear the solution to the problem.
