Scam?

SearchTempest found two more ads with the same tractor. These might be from the real owner:

Stupid people. They would actually be better scammers if they put a realistic but low price. And maybe say, slight dent in bucket, tiny crack in seat. Not a very creative bunch! Good thing actually.

Saw a circa 2008 JD compact tractor with FEL for sale for $1750. One of the features listed was interval wipers, which I thought was a neat trick for a tractor with an open operator station.

I think any CL ad with little cherry icons in the title is a scam. The same goes for the ads that have "=== L@@K ===" or "!~!~!~" in the title.

Probably a scam but did show a phone number. The 802 area code is in Vermont. "*EXCELLENT WORKING SKILLS" is not the way people in Virginia describe their tractors.

That's part of the strategy. If the ad was realistic, they would get hundreds of replies from people smart enough to eventually recognize the scam. That would waste too much time to make it worthwhile. They need a method to attract only to naive buyers.

For some reason ridiculously low tractor prices on CL is a popular scam. Been looking for a tractor for years and been seeing them all the time.
