I know the 2760 has a seat activated kill switch if you try and get off the tractor with the pto engaged and running.
All fine and good until I want to use my new pto driven wood chipper.
Am I missing something or do I need to resort to manually overriding the seat switch?
I put the hst trans in neutral and the brakes locked on.
Thanks in advance!

Manually override. Sometimes a cinderblock in the seat is sufficient. W. JONES

Read your owner's manual. Kubota has a work around for this issue, Massey may, too. With Kubota there is a delay on the engine kill. You get off the seat and within one second (or was it two?) you flip the seat up and the engine continues to run.

What's the Massy Ferguson operators manual say about seat kill switch and deactivation? A lot of 3pt implements require the operator to be at back of the tractor, including cement mixer, Stump Grinders, Wood Chippers and log splitters.
Perhaps you could do a temporary wiring bypass on the seat kill switch.

Though it violates every safety sticker on tractor and a dozen pages in owners manual. IF no solution is mentioned in tractor manual, I suggest seat switch bypass switch WITH BIG WARNING LIGHT seat switch is deactivated...

Thanks for the replies. The manual section “ seat switch “ just says if the operator leaves the seat with pto on, the engine will stop.
I will try lifting the seat all the way up, thanks for the suggestion. If not, cinder block it is.
Yesterday I used neighbor. Cinder block seen as upgrade.
Update....raising seat doesn’t work, gonna tape her down.

My switch lever is a piece of plastic, which is wired down to prevent it from activating. It was pretty hard to run the backhoe from the front seat.

On the Massey I just traded in for the Kubota, there was a yellow button on the left rear fender, to operate the PTO without the driver being on the seat. I can't remember exactly how it worked but I think you had to leave the PTO in neutral in the cab and when you pushed the yellow button the pto would start up after a few seconds. Much better than the Kubota with the air ride seat. In the Kubota I had to bypass the safety switch.

That would be my preferred choice, is a hardwired bypass switch, that keeps the factory installed seat kill switch fully active, until you throw your switch to bypass when using a PTO chipper. Then switch back to renegage the seat kill switch.

My Kioti CK4010 came with no installed seat kill switch, so I thought all tractors were the same way. Mine is a live PTO clutch, and not an independent PTO.

20# sack of dog food in your lap. Leave dog food in the seat as you exit tractor. I simply don't believe there is not a legit way to do this.........

My M6040 will buzz for ten seconds. Then silence and all continues to operate. It's a warning - not a kill.

On a John Deere, if the transmission is in neutral and the brakes are set, the PTO will run with no one on the seat. It's hard to believe that any tractor would not have a similar system. A weight on the seat is a really clunky work around.

Looked at my MF GC1715 and it will run with seat not occupied as long as HST is in neutral and brake is set and PTO is in neutral... IF PTO engaged engine dies..

Solution on my tractor would be to tip seat up and small block of wood inserted in safety switch slot... That way no wiring mods ....

Look at your wiring diagram. if your seat switch needs a ground to operate then wire into the ground side and add a toggle switch that goes to ground.

Bungee cords also work and you can leave two on the tractor for use when needed. Or ratchet strap.

My 1750M needs to be in neutral with the brakes locked for the PTO to work while off the seat

Need longer arms

Same here with my LS R3039H. This is a hydrostatic tractor with a 3 range selector. Put the range selector in neutral, set the park brake and get off tractor. Turn on PTO and raise engine speed to desired PTO speed.

I agree that others should have something similar. Modifiying the seat switch or putting weight on the seat seems a poor design.

I guess there becomes a point when it is so safe, you cant even use it.....

Flipping the seat up on my Kubota after getting off seems to be a well thought out system for reminding one that the PTO is running. The built in delay is plenty of time to flip up the seat, and a good reminder that the PTO is running when one is ready to re-mount.

I realize there are a number of ways to have the PTO run while not on the tractor. For my well being, disarming the switch is not one of them. To each to his own...
