That whole rig weighs about 325Lbs, just bulky. I wasn't hauling a trailer into the French Quarter for the night.

I don't see anything wrong with the boat in the truck. A flag on the tail end and you are good to go. Maybe there are some states that require lights, but any I've checked don't have limits on how far you overhang the bed as long as there is a flag if extending 3' or 4' (varies in some states). There are stricter regs if you haul on larger highways or toll roads sometimes.

Add bleacher seating and they could probably sell tickets.
One of my fondest memories was sitting at the boat launch with my Grandfather, eating a Jack in the Box cheeseburger watching all the action of people trying to load and unload their boats!! Ahh that's great quality entertainment!!

Any holiday is great at the boat ramp! July 4th seems to be one of the universal best for watching people goof up. Failure to put the plug in or put it in correctly. Cant say how many times that happens at boat ramps across American on July 4th. It's sad sometimes.

It's often said, if you want to see the best in people and the worst in people, just spend time at a public boat ramp

My father would get the boat on/off the ramp fine and then give it light throttle, no matter how windy.
I would watch as he ran up onto the rocks each time.
I showed him over and over how to stop this. I'm sure this was good entertainment for anyone watching.
When we got out into the bay, he would putter along and have trouble getting out of the way, I would take over and get us moving, he always seemed to be holding on for dear life, even though we weren't going very fast.
He eventually sold the boat, reducing my need to check the news for boating accidents!

I always wonder, when someone destroys their truck, by drowning, who pays for that stupidity? I mean for starters, few people even own the truck they drive. Do the insurance companies just fork over the money?

^^I agree....plenty of entertainment to be had. Just bring drinks and a lawn chair!

Insurance covers stupidity...and it's a good thing for most of us at some point in our life I suspect.

That's why it's so expensive for the rest of us that don't do stupid stuff!

Back when I had both a hunting boat and a fishing boat, I had a buddy that was constantly pulling the plug, regardless of what we were doing. There is a local lake that when the water is high, it becomes 2 different parts, you had to trailer from one to the other, less than 500yds, this idiot pulled the plug after I pulled the boat out of the southside. I head to the northside ramp, back the boat in the water, park the truck while he motors back around to pick me up, I jump in the boat and there is 3-4" of water in it, he's like, oh, I pulled the plug, I ran the boat to shore and beached it before it got any deeper. I never could get him to stop, he bought a boat and nearly sank it the 2nd time out because he forgot the plug.
