He touched a lot of us. I had a couple conversations off line with him. I miss him and his writings. He was one of those guys that made lemonade out of lemons.

No need for regrets. I reached out to him several times to send money, buy groceries, or whatever he needed. And each time he would politely refuse and say thanks anyway. The last thing I saw was his sister's post that he fell asleep smoking, which led to the fire. Crash and I had our differences politically, but he was a one of a kind character, that's for sure.

I believe she said he died of smoke inhalation but not how the fire actually started. Back when we learned about it there was concern that maybe some of his crappy neighbors may have set the fire. Unless you know of another post not in this thread with more details.
