Composite toe for my boots. I wear them at work, so I wear them at the farm.

I worked construction 40 years and had to wear steel toed boots or shoes any time I was not in the office. When I retired, so did my steel toed boots. I could never find a pair that didn't rub my toes a bit (and I tried most brands). Now it is light weight slip on shoes of various types, athletic shoes included, because I cant wear slip on boots due to high in-step. Due to bad back, cant bend over to tie laces either, so it is slip on all the way.

NOTE: During my 40 years of construction, never had a foot accident.

I just bought a new pair of Danner USMC RAT's with a steel toe; man, those are some comfortable boots. Hopefully the last pair I will ever buy. And... Made in America!

(Actually they're rubber soled leather "moccasins" from LLBean, and work pretty well for walking around in the driveway or on the lawn.)

My wife wears Mary Kay Pink when driving the bulldozer. They are not really bunny slippers, but about as close to slippers as you can get. :laughing:

Getting back to safety boots... this AM I had to go to town for fuel and supplies, so threw my saw in, thinking to bring another pickup load of log ends home from where one of last winter's jobs. It wasn't until I got there that I realized I hadn't brought my boots. Not wanting to run my saw without steel toes, I loaded what I could lift.

I didn't take a chance on cutting my feet, and hopefully my back will forgive me by next winter.

She will drive the bulldozers, although she is not really a huge fan of them, but REFUSES...absolutely HATES, the skidder, and refuses to drive that. I think it is because of the shrill Detroit 2 Stroke it has in it. She likes the Kubota Tractor though...

As for looking "too clean", perhaps, but after we were married, we went out and did our "Trash the Dress" photoshoot. For those that do not know, that is when the bride: instead of waiting for it to yellow in a closet, or be eaten by moths, goes out and completely trashes her wedding dress one last time. In true Tractor By Net Forum Member fashion: we chose to use bulldozers and MUD!

I thought you might get a kick out of the photo. That was actually her idea, and while I know some people think ill of us, I think it is great that she has embraced farm-life, and has fun doing crazy things with me.

BUT...before everyone gets all nostalgic on us, I have to admit, Katie would never have picked a dress like that out in which to marry me. It was too much for her to ruin her real wedding dress, which was much shorter than what she is wearing in the post above, so we bought a wedding dress at GoodWill (a clothing thrift store), and ruined that in the mud! (LOL)

If I don稚 plan to get off the tractor much flip flops in summer or running shoes in cooler weather. Leather work boots (no steel toe) if I plan to do other work like cutting a tree or such. I am all about comfort. Boots and shorts makes my girls laugh but it痴 comfortable.

Yeah that was me, but I also put my wife and her love of shoes to work too. No sense wasting fuel on the tractor pushing snow when the wife can do it for me. (LOL)

High arches prevent me from going barefoot, even in the house. No slippers or sneakers or flip flops either. On a lazy morning, boots are on an hour after I get up or they start to ache if I am standing any amount of time like cooking breakfast.
THAT was probably the hardest thing my wife had to finally succumb to living with me. SHOES ?? IN the house???!!!
