Kubota L4740
Seeking the wisdom of the forum...I have a 2007 L4740 with a loader and backhoe with about 260 hours, so not used much. However, the cab/operator station factory seat has broken a hinge and the vinyl is torn so I want to replace it. The backhoe is not mounted most of the time. I think due to leaning back to the rear from the main seat, to lift up the backhoe arms or the bucket periodically when I start it and need to move it (versus getting out and sitting in the backhoe seat or standing by it), I've put too much pressure on the main seat and this has caused it to break.

The factory seats for my tractor are $1100 if I remember the quote correctly from my dealer, though. Although at first I thought I wouldn't pay for a genuine Kubota seat at that price, I've looked at after market seats in the $200-$300 range but aren't sure I like what I see. The current one has foldable arm rests, for example, which I've actually enjoyed, and want to have those again. Many aftermarket don't have arm rests at all. Also, they just look aftermarket and/or I'm not sure how much retrofitting I'd need to do. Ideally, I'd like to keep the tractor looking factory or as close to factory as possible but the price of a genuine seat pains me.

All that said, I've almost resolved myself to pay for a factory replacement from the dealer. Questions:

1) Anyone have any recommendations for aftermarket replacements?
2) If I'm going to spend $1100, I feel like I could get a much higher quality aftermarket one, such as with air suspension, than the standard Kubota one. Is that a correct reading of the state of the market, and are there recommendations for a nicer tractor seat? I see some posts for Grammer seats, for example.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Seems like a TBN member found a good deal on seats somewhere, maybe Northern Tool, posted it here, and several other members bought them as well. Hope someone will comment.

You might replace the broken hinge, and have the seat reupholstered.
I bought an L48 with a bad seat, and found an aftermarket (not exact) replacement at seatwarehouse.com.
As I recall, the complete L48 OEM seat from Messick's would have been almost $900.
My original seat did not have armrests.
