Good morning!!!!

Good morning to all! Low went to 24.... snow started about 10:30 last night... Awakened to 5 inches at 6 am. Still snowing, the guessers are now predicting 6-10 inches. High for the day only expected to hit 36 now... yesterday they were predicting 48. Snow is coming down at a couple inches / hour right now.... I still cannot believe it....

I am glad I followed the little voice that said move the flower planters into the garage ? Did that yesterday in the middle of the dust storm.... glad I did!

Nice to hear about all the nice Easter dinners. We had ham steaks done on the grill and homemade pierogies.... all was delicious!

RNG, I hope you can find the line you are looking for! I hope you can understand my jargon.... I do not know how to explain it any better. Just go slow and really pay attention....

Drew, and the other guys back East, hope the winds do not cause any damage. Seems like another nasty front / system moving your way.

Rick, nice work doing the brush clearing.

Here is a couple pics of our spring snow!

Ted, it seems puzzling to see all that snow in New Mexico. Meanwhile my truck is sure getting washed at the moment.
And my flower garden will sure like the rain.

37°F and high winds this morning, going up to 48° today. Most of the rain missed us either north or south over the weekend. The winds certainly didn't miss us last night. 40-50mph sustained winds made it sound like someone was trying to lift the house off the foundation around 01:30 this morning, and that lasted until around 05:30 when it finally died down to around 25mph. At least we didn't get the damage that hit the deep South.

Boss cut us loose early from work on Friday. When I got home, The Wife decided we should get a jump on some cleanup work in the pasture. We started removing small trees and fencing along one of the ditches that directs area runoff water into our pond. There is one section that has over several decades become a jumble of plants and fencing, and a sizeable pile of long ago abandoned cinder blocks. We started on the trees and one section of fence, and after four hours of dropping and cutting up trees and snipping out old rusted barbed wire, we called it a day. Still sore on Saturday morning, we jumped back into it and got more finished before the wind and rain arrived just after noon. More tree removal, and more fence untangling and removal. In all, we've probably removed a dozen small trees so far, and we're still not done. Wifey was getting all the seat time taking buckets full to the burn pile while I was cutting the wood to manageable lengths.

Sunday was something of a recovery day for both of us. She'd advertised on Facebook Marketplace an offer for the backyard playset for free, as long as they can disassemble it and haul it away. Someone responded in about 30 seconds, literally. They came out Saturday afternoon and worked on it while we were back in the pasture, but couldn't get it all done. So, they came back Sunday afternoon and finished by cutting the remainder in half with a sawzall and loading it in a large enclosed trailer. Looks strange to look out the kitchen window and be able to see unhindered all the way to the pasture now. After 18 years, it was in surprisingly good shape. But, we're both glad to see it go, as no one has played on it in probably 10 years.

No falls like some of you guys, but I did hurt my back again trying to help that guy maneuver a large section of the playset to get on his trailer. Between that and the indentured servitude my Wife subjected me to, I'm paying dearly today.

Good Morning!!!! 50F @ 6:45AM. Sunny. High 77F. Winds WNW at 10 to 20 mph.

Much better, Rick. Nice pics, looks like your hard work is paying off.

Glad that pair of ducks came back, Ron. Be fun if they started a family in your pond.

You might be able to google up old versions of Apple system software, Don, but the way I understand it, even if you get it installed, it won't run because Apple's security software is date based and will prevent it. You can get around that by setting the date in the past, and there are patches out there to get around the date issue, but at some point it just makes sense to treat yourself to a new computer. I see Apple has now managed to fit a 16" diagonal screen into the old 15" chassis of the MacBookPro, and when this 17" "lunch tray" finally bites the dust, that's probably gonna be its replacement. I've been pretty impressed with the Griffin Survivor case I put on the iPad Mini. Lots of cushy gel surrounds a good fitting plastic shell so it feels good in my hands. Easy on/off, and very inexpensive if you pick an ugly color. It gets pretty good reviews from people that have dropped their iPads, too.

Lots of rain in Hawaii and the Eastern Seaboard, hope everyone comes out the other end unscathed.

:welcome: to the newcomers! The more the merrier!

Took some planning to catch that front coming through, Walker. Nice work, and thanks for sharing!

Hope the internet repair person has their act together and finds the root of the problem, Rich. With so many working from home these days, it's bringing a lot of skeletons out of the closets.

Thought I heard a door slam inside the house early yesterday morning, enough noise it woke me up. Later I found the guest bathroom door closed, so that must have been it. Checked the weather records for that time, and there was no strong wind, but it did shift from northeast to southwest all of a sudden at that time. There's a fan vent in that bathroom, and another in the kitchen on the other side of the house, so I suppose that kind of wind shift could generate enough pressure to slam the door. That, or I've got a poltergeist in the house!:confused3:

Got another four feet of progress before dinner, still chasing the conduit in a straight line as it heads into the hill up to the parking pad next to the garage. Made it past the railroad tie steps, all but the bottom one anyway, so at least I won't have to tear those up. I believe the steps are over the other conduit I was worried about, so now just have a water line to keep an eye out for. I've got a pretty good stock of PVC and fittings on hand, and I know my glue is still fresh from the electrical conduit job, but it'll still be a mess if I break that line. Your shaving technique will get a workout today, Ted. I haven't found any marker tape here, but I have found pieces of concrete roof tiles, chunks of concrete, soda cans, and pieces of metal. I learned a long time ago not to put anything but dirt back into a trench, but I guess contractors don't quite see things the same.:mur:

Tried backing the tractor down the hill to reach the end of the trench, but didn't quite reach before it got really steep and I didn't feel safe moving down any further. Got a nasty surprise when I released the brake and the tractor tried to roll down the hill; I'd somehow managed to knock it out of gear. Didn't get far because my foot was already on the brake pedal, but it just goes to show how easy it is to screw up when you get tired. Slept like a log last night, so all that shoveling was good for something...

Finished up the day by unloading the hard goods I'd purchased last Tuesday, figuring the bugs would be baked out of them by now with the truck sitting in the sun. Still wiped down the plastic on the outside of the TP and paper towel packages. And I was happy to find that the Kirkland brand TP is a full 4 1/2" wide, and they're jumbo sized as well.

Hope everyone's week gets off to a good start, even if it is a soggy one for some of you!

Yes, unfortunately we have been known to get snow just before Easter, when all the bulbs have sprouted / bloomed. This snow was late in coming. Fortunately, I got most of the fresh plants that were for the new landscaping into the garage. There were 6 flowers that were planted, I am sure they are goners along with a couple other plants. Lows tonight going down to 19.... not good for the plants.

I don't know about you, but those kinds of noises in the middle of the night here usually find me clearing the house with a flashlight in one hand and my .357 in the other (not to mention a high pucker factor). Never easy to go back to sleep after with all that adrenaline in your body.

Woke to thunderstorms, Gracie barks and chases the thunder from window to window, so needless to say I wasn’t going back to sleep. 2.81 inches so far and steady pouring. We’ve had gusty winds but nothing like the predicted 60 mph so far.
My dinner plate from yesterday.

Roy, hope you get better soon m I have lower back issues and I understand.

Nice snow LS, glad it’s there not here.

Ron, great duck picture.

Rick, you’re a busy man, trees look great.

Drew, watch those whirlwinds!

Everyone have a great day.

Ahh ... no, I don't think so ... at least if I am understanding you correctly (always possible I'm not)

That does appear to be the case with devices running the iOS operating sytem however (sorta/kinda)

You can get around that by setting the date in the past, and there are patches out there to get around the date issue, but at some point it just makes sense to treat yourself to a new computer.

Can't argue with the latter point, although I've never had to do any gymnastics of setting the dates on a machine back in time to update it ...

Nothing like a good case to protect an electronic device ...

The Otters we have on our iPhones have paid for themselves many times over.

Yes, there was some of that, but once I figured out it was a slamming door, I reasoned that a home breaker wouldn't announce their presence that way. Every door here except one is a glass slider, and that remaining one is little more than a wood frame around a big piece of glass. If someone were to try to force entry, I'd hear the glass shattering. But on further thought, I remember a few years ago when the outer pane on one of the sliders broke. It was evening and dark out, and it sounded like a gunshot. I did grab a handgun and flashlight for that one, did the quick/low peek through the door frame with all the lights out in the house. I thought someone had put a bullet through it, but the inner pane was intact. Never figured out what caused it, but I did note that the repair guy had some trouble fitting the new pane (it was the non-sliding side of the door) into the frame. So it was likely due to the house shifting or settling on that corner. That, or there is a poltergeist here.

I went and dug out my winter jacket, gloves, and hat..... I just finished shoveling snow off the front and rear decks / walkway. I seriously thought I was done doing this for the year! It is still snowing! I would not mind an inch or two, but 6-10? :banghead::pullinghair::censored::hissyfit:
