Harbor Freight Tools that don't suck

I wouldn't buy any of the HF lithium stuff while you can buy the Ridgid kits that are lithium, brushless and lifetime warranty. I bought the Hercules stuff, returned it all a few days later... Not because it didn't perform... But because I could pay similar for Ridgid and register everything in the kits including tools, batteries and charger for the lifetime warranty. No extra cost, just buy Ridgid in kits with the lifetime warranty clearly marked on the package. Bare tools and individual batteries are exempt from that warranty.

Not true as far as the bare tools... I have purchased 4 bare tools (at separate times) and they were registered for the lifetime warranty. Nothing different on the registration.... unless they have changed policy in the last 4 months.

That has been my experience as well. I've got a collection of the Ridgid tools and three extra 4.0 AH batteries. I actually look for "bare tools" now. I don't need more batteries or battery chargers.

Well, that is true of NiCAD, NiMH, and lead-acid too.

NiCad packs are just a number of cells connected. With Lithium Ion packs the charger looks to see if all the cells are close to being equal. If not it will not charge the pack. The days of a stupid charger are over.

I purchased a used Harbor Freight 6.5 HP plate compactor. The centrifugal clutch went out and I'm having a hard time finding a replacement. The 3/4" keyed shaft is no problem but the 2 pulleys of the right diameter is where I'm having a problem. Anyone replaced one of these?

Call'em. It's on their list of tools with Special Order parts, but it doesn't mean THAT part is available:
