The wife said RICE was sold out at the store.
Likewise here. I bought the last 20 lb bag of Thai jasmine rice last Thursday but there were still other varieties. Now none left. Today we got the last lentils. The store said their normal restock day is Tuesday so all should be ok then.

Five years left on my 4% mortgage... credit union last week offered no cost fixed rate no cash out 2.625% 10 year. I really don稚 want to go from 5 to 10 but with the lower rate and longer term it would shave $1,000 a month off the payment based on last week痴 rate.
I walked into my credit union (BECU) last Monday. I have a 15year at 3.75% and have 11years to pay off as I have been making extra payments to principle. At my current pace should have it paid off in 7 more years... retirement then! They were offering a 10 year at 2.75%. I asked if I would save anything if I refi'd and payed the the same amount per month as I am now and she said, yes but only about 10K. I wasn't convinced she was accurate as she didn't show me the numbers. She said, "watch the 10yr treasury yield because we are tied to that". That day it was 0.54 lowest by far... it has since jumped daily and the 10yr fixed is 3.25% not worth it now. I SHOULD HAVE JUMPED AT IT!

1 Year Treasury Rate

Hoping now that the Fed rate got got cut from 1.25 to zero, today! I will get another chance to refi at an incredible 10 year rate this week. Need to take advantage where you can during this COVID-19 crap. If I can cut my payoff date any earlier, say a year or more... retirement comes that much sooner!!!

^^ It was a relief when I paid off my house a number of years back. You will appreciate having done it.

Are we certain of that?

My source a German study reported March 9th:
People 'shed' coronavirus early, but most likely not infectious after recovery

"Those tests are conducted using PCR polymerase chain reaction which looks for tiny sections of the RNA of the virus. That type of test can indicate whether a patient is still shedding viral debris, but cannot indicate whether the person is still infectious.

The researchers found very high levels of virus emitted from the throat of patients from the earliest point in their illness when people are generally still going about their daily routines. Viral shedding dropped after day 5 in all but two of the patients, who had more serious illness. The two, who developed early signs of pneumonia, continued to shed high levels of virus from the throat until about day 10 or 11."

"This pattern of virus shedding is a marked departure from what was seen with the SARS coronavirus, which ignited an outbreak in 2002-2003. With that disease, peak shedding of virus occurred later, when the virus had moved into the deep lungs.

Shedding from the upper airways early in infection makes for a virus that is much harder to contain. The scientists said at peak shedding, people with Covid-19 are emitting more than 1,000 times more virus than was emitted during peak shedding of SARS infection, a fact that likely explains the rapid spread of the virus."

Washington bars, restaurants and places of entertainment and recreation will now shut down per Governor Jay Inslee. Might as well stay at home now as government wishes.

Have to say though, between customers not wanting a meeting, no air travel which is key to my business, and now no entertainment outside the home... two positive things are emerging... 1) I am getting a lot of shop time for improvements, new projects, etc., and 2) My wife is worried that I'm getting antsy... I call it frisky. :D

Well, being in a different time zone (to say the least) I find that it's near impossible to keep up with the postings in this thread... let alone if this thread will still be going when I wake up tomorrow. So, if this has already been posted; too bad, I found it funny...

got calls on my phone from City of Washington Sunday. First it was parks and libraries closed.
Second call at dinner time, basically the City has closed down, don't come to our offices.
My brother's accounting office is not doing face to face meetings, doing every thing over the phone.

And I'm off to CVS this morning plus Walmart to pick up prescriptions. Definitely wearing a mask, soft black nylon one bought months ago.
But then what do I do with that mask when I get home? Spray it with disinfectant? Wash in hot soapy water?

Why? Do you have the bug and don't want to spread it? That's all the masks are for.

I would tend to agree with that. But apparently all of the doctors in the emergency room must be sick as they are wearing masks.

I am immune suppressed due to other conditions and have no desire to take any additional chances. Yes, they say masks are only for the sick but if I'm standing in the prescription line next to someone who is coughing and won't keep six feet away from me, I sure want whatever protection I can get. And yes I have to clean/disinfect the mask when I get home, plus it has replacement filters.

Does everyone in China have Covid? If not, why are they ALL wearing masks.

It may be unnecessary but with six opinions about most things out there, I'm just being conservative and careful.

Smog. Check some pictures from before all this of China, Hong Kong, Singapore and a few other similar places and you'll see masks everywhere. Smog is horrible.

Prophylactic measure wearing a simple mask to reduce spit transmission.

N95 and higher seal better as more form fitting.

Many surgical masks also have face shield to protect medical staff eyes/face from splash...

On a side note... nearly 20% of our Docs retired in the last 9 months... just the complexities of running a practice and age... The days with the 70+ docs I remember as a child are becoming fewer.

Over the weekend I added lots of new locks to secure masks, gloves and discenfectants...

I do think we are being eased into this only because too much truth too soon would cause both panic and more that simply dismiss.

Also, the air exchanges, positive/negative room pressure and using 100% filtered outside air greatly minimize risk in operating rooms... fresh air flow down over the surgical field and then pulled to the far lower corners of the room to be exhausted...

You are wise to be cautious. Be overly cautious. No harm in that. Wear your mask.

Ok, so quite a few here an online seem to think this is the start of something much worse than the media is portraying and that it's essentially an end of times event. I really wish we would finally get some clarification that is at least consistent across sources whether it's positive or negative. You wonder why people are in a panic. One side says prepare for a massive population reduction event while others are saying this is being blown out of proportion and the reactions are a knee jerk reaction. If anything, hopefully we get a more clear picture given to us sooner rather than later.

It's some where in the middle. Not end of times, not just like the flu.

Coming here for advice on your issue is foolish. Call your doctor and ask. One of the first comments you have received is from someone best ignored. IMHO.

Be safe!!
