Diesel timing light, Princess Auto.

Princess Auto, the Canadian equivalent of Harbor Freight, has this diesel timing light on sale this month.( March 2020).
Does anyone have experience with diesel timing lights?

Yes, that's the one.

Not clear how it works on diesels. May only work on common rail ones with the electronics opening the little injector valves.

Years ago, there was one that attached to (probably # 1) an injector line. It could feel the impulse of flow that would cause a very slight bulge in the metal line.

Not sure how it works either. But you must have to put a magnetic strip on the damper pulley or something to read engine rotation. Only guessing..???

Ralph.. dont u remember the timing lite they came out w/ to time the stanadyne 5.7/6.2/7.3L pumps.. its the same thing..
if u look at the parts, theres a small clamp the goes around the steel line to read the "line pulse"..
BUT its worthless UNLESS u know WHAT its SUPPOSED TO BE..
Theres a big diff. in "static & dynamic" timing..
