Oil Sprayer for UTV for dust control?

Reminds me of a trucking company I had one of my highway tractor brokered to. One day I had to replace an oil cooler on an N14 Cummins. So I go into their repair shop, and the owner, the mechanics and a bunch of drivers are sitting around. I asked if they had any pails around.

They said "for what"

I said to drain the oil and coolant when I pull the cooler off.

Owner looks at me and says "what's the matter with the ground?" LOL

My neighbor and I use to treat the county road in front of our houses with old drained motor oil. He got it in 55 gal barrels. It was drained from large engines at the nearby Phillips pumping station. We had a PVC header rigged up with a valve to control flow. Worked fine, did the job of dust control, no one ever made a comment or complained. They were large Mosburg engines, I think. Times have changed.

Now it's OK to kill babies and and call it women's rights, but you better not put oil on the road or you'll get the gov't chasing you!!

I'm not a fan of spraying oil on roads, even though I've seen it done every time I see the County or Highway people paving the roads. What is a lot worse for the planet and environment is when the Government does something to "save" the planet like MTBE, electric cars, wind farms, and solar farms. Just imagine how much cleaner our air, water and soil would be if those programs had never been forced on us!!!

But then, just think how much cleaner the Earth would be if humans had never existed...

Ruffdog, how could one think about something if they didn't exist? I'm confused

guys...oil comes from the ground and is broken down by normal enzymes found in nature.

The spot on the ranch where old oil was dumped many years ago is now one of the greenest parts of the place.

relax...

Sounds like you should start fertilizing your vegetable garden with used motor oil every year.
Spring, summer and fall.
Imagine all of the healthy vegetables for your family to eat!!!

Would you still have to use as much shortening??

Our earth has thousands of carcinogens on/in it that naturally occur,, like mercury for example. It being a "natural" does not make me what to eat or bath in it. Used motor oil is loaded with carcinogens so I wouldn't be dumping that at our home. But then, I also would not consume oil that was freshly pumped up out of the ground.

Sadly, there are plenty of people that think that this is the solution to the man made global warming hoax.

Maybe you missed the part where natural bacteria and enzymes broke the oil down after a number of years.

Nobody advocated for the direct application of oil as fertilizer.

It's narratives with red herrings, like your example, that give environmentalist an ungrounded view of reality.

Yeah. Like dumping used motor oil on the ground does not pollute.
How do we know? The grass turns green.
THERE is a scientific study if I ever heard one.

You seem to have a problem with selective editing as the only way to make your point...

If oil comes from the ground, how is oil going back into the ground polluting?

Ever hear of tar pits? Are those pollution or nature?

Dump 5 gallons of drain oil in your domestic water supply and report back.

no one is saying do that...

But thanks for another red herring...

I'm looking to build a sprayer that would sit in the back of my UTV that would allow me to spray used oil on my roads to help with dust control. I have a 16 gallon spot sprayer with custom boom for weed control but at 2.2 gpm and 70 psi it doesn't seem to have enough power to distribute oil. Thinking maybe something with a larger 12 volt pump or maybe small gas motor. What kind of pressure and nozzles would be reguired? Anyone out there fabricated anything like this? Thanks in advance for any help!

Ampped: in terms of enviro impact or possible epa fines regarding this practice, be patient
at the current rate of epa deregulation, & the global warming/climate change denial by the government, it may not be a problem. heck, with the new confidence of the corporate tax cuts & climate denial, the petroleum industry may even subsidize such practices. this is so reassuring for the future of my kids.
not :)

All those practices from the 1950's sure created a large and detrimental impact for their kids today...It's obvious their actions really put us at a disadvantage today.

Oh.So you're going to spread brand new oil from the container on the road?
I thought you were talking about USED motor oil along with all of the toxins from the combustion process.
Either way; is the practice legal in Wyoming?

Food suppliers use to put formaldehyde in food too. Good thing we learn from our mistakes. :mur:
