I can't read a wiring diagram but from the first page (before the key didn't work), sitting on the seat, it would start,
just like it's supposed to. Letting off the brake or pulling the PTO would kill it, just like you're not on the seat. What
lawyer designed this system?

Thanks for all the tips. It needed a new ignition/key switch but that came after the real culprit - the fuse.
I had checked it visually (seemed obvious) but after all the 'fixes' wouldn't fix it I was told to check the fuse
for continuity, not just look at it. Back in business.
