I was hoping that we'd get through this car (wife's DD) without her having hit a hooved rat with it. She hit one this morning just up the street. A car coming towards her apparently spooked it, and it jumped out and nailed the right front bumper of the Mz3. Seems to be mostly bumper damage except that the piece between the bumper and hood is very slightly sprung on the right side. We found a very good body shop about 10 years ago. Hopefully, it's still there. Will take it by and see how much the damage is. Probably be more like $2,000 on this one.

On the Jetta, it was about $1,000. The hooved rat only kicked out the left front headlight assembly.

Lights still work and all on the Mz3.

Hoping my little Miata will make it without a hooved rat having hit it. So far, the Tacoma has not been hit. The old Benz got hit 4 times. Replaced the whole front grill on it for $35: new online. Left headlight assembly on it was $500.

Nothing "dear" about these beasts to a gardener. Kill and eat. That's what Peter was told. Do it, people: squirrels, too.

Pretty rare to see a deer be roadkill in my part of East Texas. Wild hogs are pretty common, along with armadillos and beavers.

A big girl jumped out in front my my Infini EX35 last summer. Hit dead center and punted. I called it in and drove home, both headlights still working and aimed right. One headlight was cracked, bumper, grill, hood, hood hinges, radiator support and some other miscellany and it was $10,000 damage on a 2008 car. Thankfully USAA didn't total out the car. Last year in spring I hit another one with my F150 and got lucky: no damage whatsoever.

Twice I've been so close on my motorcycle that I could hear their hooves on the pavement. One of them I could have spanked on the butt if I was not hanging onto the bars so tight. Pucker moment for sure. I call them long legged rats, hooved rats works too.

A friend of mine got taken out bicycling down a hill by one. He was doing over 40. He was pretty scuffed up and smacked his head (in a helmet) hard enough that he lost his sense of smell. He's a peach to be around sometimes as a result...
Be careful out there !

I hit one on a motorcycle back in the 80’s. Hurt like **** for some time!

We have plenty here near Paris Eddie. Totaled my CRV last year, but caught it on dashcam.

Thanks, wondered what a hooved rat was, we have sky rats (seagulls) and couldn't connect.
Had a couple of close calls with them in the bush but never travelling that fast.
