sometimes he will not listen.

I got a wife that fits that bill..... :D (actually, she'd say it's me but, since she's not here to say it....)

The farm has a fence around it (torn down in areas from a tree falling and/or people trespassing.... I've fixed areas to only find them down later with no trees on them)

Anyway, good stuff!!!

We've had enough issues over the years (trespassing, theft, two of our dogs shot/killed) that I'm to the point of everyone is considered a slob/trash (whatever is the correct word) hunter until proven they are not.....even then, I'm to the point that I don't believe them.

They don't seem to police themselves which is a shame. (I understand that might be pretty difficult to do)

That's my biggest peeve as a hunter, landowner, and landowner representative. About 10% of the people cause the problems, yet nobody will step up and say "You are wrong."

 . . . fortunately I've been here long enough that the general public knows to ask to hunt here ;).

Edit: and to have your dogs killed . . . . I'm afraid of what I would do in that situation.

What a flood of a lifetime of wonderful memories this thread has brought back. Thank you. From following an Uncle as a boy, til my last hound died about a dozen years ago, I've loved their music. The simple truth is, the dogs follow where the coon leads them. I've had them tree in barns, corncribs, even trees in front yards. If the landowner was up and out I'd respectfully apologize for disturbing them, leash the dogs and git. Never shot a coon in their yard even if they said go ahead. I gotta defend the poor maligned silent hounds, they (the good ones) do open once when hitting a track they like, and chop on tree at the end. Usually a faster run 'cause Mr. Coon isn't warned he's in trouble. My old walker. Dick The Dog, deep booming chop, and my cousin's female B&T with her high pitched squalling chop, both silent trailers, were easy to locate. And always accurate. What a joy to follow. Health issues ended following hounds, but I can still hear them in my mind. Again, thanks
