Our potential future (sort of), as told in 1961

ou can tell that it's an old movie because the doctor made house calls.

I read a book back around that time era set in Australia On the Beach by Nevil Shute about the end of the humanity after a nuclear war.

What amazes me is that I can take a snippet of old memory and the search engine will often spit out what I was looking for.

There are a lot of 'after' movies (Road Warrior anybody?), but most are nuclear or similar or they just don't say how. That Twilight Zone episode bugged me because I always hated overly hot days and I couldn't really stand Nettleton.

Mate, both of your links are from "The Guardian". That 'publication' has a pro-"Climate Emergency" agenda....

Some would say your country is having a Climate Emergency.

Do you have a source for information on how fires started?
Do you have a source that says the following information from the "pro-climate emergency" Guardian (whatever that means) is untrue?

"Victoria police say there is no evidence any of the devastating bushfires in the state were caused by arson, contrary to the spread of global disinformation exaggerating arsonist arrests during the current crisis.

A misleading figure suggesting 183 arsonists have been arrested "since the start of the bushfire season spread across the globe on Wednesday, after initial reports in News Corp were picked up by Donald Trump Jr, US far-right websites and popular alt-right personalities.
The figure included statistics from some states covering the entirety of 2019, rather than just the current bushfire season, which began in September.

In Victoria, 43 alleged arsonists were counted among the 183 arrested "in the past few months and "since the start of the bushfire season? That Victorian figure was, in fact, the figure for the year ending September 2019, meaning it had no relation to the current bushfire season.
"there is currently no intelligence to indicate that the fires in East Gippsland and the North East have been caused by arson or any other suspicious behaviour, a Victoria police spokeswoman said.
The reported figure of 183 also includes 101 individuals from Queensland who were picked up for setting fires in the bush? But a Queensland police spokeswoman said the figure included a broader range of offences than arson, including the breaching of total fire bans, and was not a total of arrests, but a total of "police enforcement actions?

"Enforcement action includes charging, restorative justice or cautioning, she said.

"firebreaks don't really do a lot" ...then why do every time there is a fire the use dozers to create a fire break and or drop Phos Chek of water to create a fire break.
Fire breaks do work that's why they also have some fire breaks already created in California used a fire break roads and have stopped many fires at that road.

Having said that can ember travel sure, but having fire breaks would stop a lot more fires that flying embers would start.

Lastly, with fire breaks, these fires would not get so monstrous that they create high winds. Common sense says a fire break is better than not having a fire break

Here's a small read about fire breaks

http://pods.dasnr.okstate.edu/docushare/dsweb/Get/Document-8542/NREM-2890web.pdf

Firebreaks are very hard to put in and these areas are remote, the terrain excludes a lot of vehicle access due to steep terrain that even a track vehicle cannot negotiate, phos chek has been used but aircraft cannot access the area due to the thick smoke, dropping above the smoke won't work as the retardant will disperse.
Eucalypts are hard to ignite but once they get a hold they are almost impossible to put out with their high oil content.
I spent three years working in bushfires and have seen what dozers can do, D6 and D9's with tree pushers are weapons of choice for a lot of fires to provide vehicle access to the front but these are so large with fronts that almost impossible to combat due to the length.
The fires do not follow roads and fly up a ridge then meander down a gully then accelerate up the next ridge where dozers cannot get in, the rivers are of no assistance as there is often a tree canopy.
These will just have to burn themselves out or get stopped where they are accessible further along, hope for rain and a wind change so it turns on itself.
The way it works here is that most towns have a volunteer rural fire brigade, most towns have sent one truck and a team of volunteers to the fires, multiply this by the number of towns in the state and it will give you an idea of the number at the fires, saw a camp on TV last night, a massive airconditioned marquee full of two man tents about 6x6x6 so the crews can get a decent sleep when off duty, there was a smaller area set up for the snorers, all bases covered.
Our town has 14 volunteers at the fires, during this time they do not get paid but finally there are moves to compensate them for lost wages as they have families to support too, I wonder how many bastard banks will foreclose on volunteers mortgages.

the World needed them Decades ago, but nobody cared, now, we have way too many people, a good war might be needed to fix things, by reducing the population!..

I think the current administration is going to help you out on that. Please send your kids first.

I don't know what's more sad, what happening in Austrailia or how millions of people are believing the leftist media lies, hook line and sinker. Disturbs me even more that it seems like the bulk of Canadians too. We also have no center or right wing media. Absolutely nada!

I thought TRUMP was going to start mashing that RED BUTTON the second he got hold of it. So we were "told". The world was finished!
