We've had a lot of rain and snow the past couple weeks, flooding the nearby salt flats. At sunset a couple days ago I caught this shot of the nearby mountains reflected in the water......sagebrush looks like it is floating on a lake.

Fantastic! I would poster-size frame that one! Well done!

Very fine picture. That is what a "dead calm" is able to produce.

I keep several bird feeders full during this cold time of year and they attract a lot of birds. That attracts the hawks that live off the birds...shot through my living room window; he's perched on the porch handrail and keeping one foot warm because it is cold out there!

Cool shot. I thought hawks ate various rodents, not other birds.

If it's warm blooded and they can catch it, they'll eat it. I really enjoy watching birds of prey. We have a lot of Redtail Hawks, Sparrow Hawks, Screech Owls and several Bald Eagles.

I'm heading to Conowingo Dam on Monday & Tuesday to shoot the bald eagles (photographically). I hope to have some nice shots to post up next week.

Synmat68,

If you are looking for a good breakfast after your eagle photo shoot you should try the Spready Oak diner just a few miles east of the Conowingo Dam. I would meet you there, but we are soon to be out of town for Christmas. Enjoy the majestic birds!

^ Yup. I have a pair of red-tail hawks around here that live off the quail around my house.

Hey thanks for the tip! Just bookmarked it on Google maps. Might give it a shot!

I've seen our Red Tailed hawks & Bald eagles try to catch pheasant - no joy. It's that the pheasants can dodge so fast. That is an exceptional photo of the hawk - deserteagle 71.
