Once again, someone please itemize exactly what "subsidy" Tesla is given that no other industry or automaker is given? Repeating fake news does not make it true.

All automakers were gifted a $7500 Federal tax credit to the vehicle buyer for the first 200,000 EVs. Hybrids got $3750. Tesla hit that limit in July 2018 entering the taper-off period. Buy today for $1850 tax credit on your 2019 return. Come January 1, 2020 there is no Federal tax credit for purchase of a Tesla. But every other manufacturer is still well under their limits. Buyers of everything but Tesla get Federal tax credits. Toyota hit the limit for hybrids in 2006.

Progressive Left Grow Government Pickers Of Winners And Losers such as California believe it is government's place to control all economic activity (not just EVs) so when they throw money around to EV manufacturers and buyers its really no different than any other industry. CARB has long imposed quotas on vehicles. Must sell blessed vehicles for emissions credits in order to sell conventional vehicles. Nissan heavily subsidizes the LEAF in CARB states so as to sell everything else. The used market is flooded with 2 year old off-lease LEAFs. Fiat-Chrysler does same with the Fiat 500e. Honda has tried to make an eFit exclusively for the CARB market. Many have had to buy credits from Tesla who has no other use for them. Considering how much cheaper it is to lease a LEAF in CA than buy, these credits must be very valuable. Credits are not publicly traded so any guess as to value is only a guess. But consider the irony that sale of Teslas allows many automakers to continue selling what they have always sold?

Back to a EV truck.....a model (edit-X) Tesla was tested on the Ike Gauntlet, pulling 4500 lbs, first going down grade, then up grade. Start the video at about 11:30 in and you will see how it did. On the way down, it never over sped and basically just charged the battery. Going up, the torque of EV pulled great. It is what they do good.....until the battery is dead.

I'm not sold on TESLA for several reasons. Some to do with their product but mostly to do with their business model and their reliance on government subsidies to stay afloat.

A little off topic but we went from Illinois to Colorado for Thanksgiving. I so a lot of Teslas in Colorado.. I also so charging stations. I saw one at a restaurant in Rifle Colorado. Also at the hotel we stayed at in Kansas. I'm trying to figure out how you drive one across country though with a range of less than 400 miles. I guess short day of driving. As we got near the Eisenhower tunnel the weather got really bad and there was a Tesla next to us in stop and go traffic. I wondered how that cut down on his range.

I think you need a generator as big as a trailer-mounted welder to charge in a reasonable time.
