Harbor Freight Tools that don't suck

Today I stopped by HF's Black Friday sale and got their new Hercules 11 amp angle grinder. It seems near identical to the 11 amp Dewalt DWE402 ($89) I had originally wanted.

I got a bargain table one that appears new, except the box looks like it was used for football by clumsy children - crushed both ends and torn. Whatever - I paid $33.75.

Home now, the grinder checks out as-new. A new toy! :) :) :)

Here's the coupon for this grinder. I think its a good buy at this coupon price.

(Duplicate of my post over in the '4.5" grinder recommendation?' thread, to share this coupon here).

HF has my favorite light on sale. I ordered a few of them plus some other items. I passed on going to the store, too crazy.

39 Lumen Magnetic Slim Bar Folding LED Work Light

Those are great lights! I was working on my M37 truck with a friend who is in the antique truck restoration business. He had one of those and we were using it everywhere: stick it on the truck with the magnet and bend the head to aim the light where needed. Small enough to fit almost anywhere, and the magnet is strong enough to hold it even on vertical or upside down surfaces. I ordered two of them the next time I saw them on sale.

We'll see how I got out today later but so far so good... had their normal 50% off of shipped in clearance items this weekend on Sunday, went in at the end of the day yesterday and noticed a few things and figured they'd discount things more on Sunday. Anywho, picked up a 79cc 4 stroke engine that looked unused (but had oil in the crankcase) for $31.25 and a Earthquake 1025ftlb 1/2" impact for $50. I don't think I did too bad, I'll probably put the engine on my log splitter since it has a 80's Kawasaki that is showing it's age, before ya get crazy about the tiny engine it's a tiny splitter... I think it shipped with a 5hp briggs in the 80's and with this engine I think I'll have $110 into it... They had two 212's for $70 each which would probably be better... maybe I'll look how late they're open :)

Yes.

I got 50% off the angle grinder (above) yesterday and the counter guy said everything would be 75% off on the final day of the sale, Sunday. That said, I've stopped by HF's Sidewalk Sales several times and this angle grinder in the crushed carton is the only time I ever found a bargain.

Often the discounted items are missing something or in the case of a bench grinder I saw, the shaft was bent. (No wheel on it). That would be a deadly hazard to mount a wheel and spin it up. I mentioned this to a clerk, they weren't concerned.

Hard to beat Pred engines., I have 3. One on a rear tine tiller that replaced a Honda that tossed a rod and Honda said no warranty so oy got a 99 buck Pred 5 years ago, one on my pressure washer (which is on it's second pump and one on my wife's push mower. All run well, just change the oil and keep the AF clean. Don't think I've ever changed a sparkplug in any of them.

No more Honda engines here.

Best deal I got at HF was a damaged carton at a sidewalk sale. Manager said it was 50% off the marked price off of $175 handwritten on the box. She said I could return it if I wasn't happy. It was surprisingly in perfect condition! Lowest sale price I ever seen I think is $179.

My wife is getting the Bauer 20 volt handheld vacuum for Christmas to replace her clapped out Bissel which is heading to the landfill. Have an extra charger and batteries. Bauer cordless tools rock.
