TESLA Electric Truck?

Pretty sure people said the same thing about their horses back in the day...

溺y horse can get free fuel by eating grass anywhere! There are no gas stations or roads to drive these things called automobiles & I値l be stuck or out of gas just driving down to the next little town over..my horse can go through mud and snow but not this 疎uto樗

But plenty of people started using them in cities..cars & that way of life evolved. It takes time.
The same way the modern electrics are evolving. I壇 rather an American energy company get my 組as money vs Middle East or Venezuela etc etc. (granted a lot of fuel now comes from the US today, prices are still fluctuated by all the Middle East garbage/issues). Electricity doesn稚 fluctuate daily at the whim of Iran causing issues in the middle east.

Nah I am pretty sure they weren稚 adopted in mass until they were better than the alternative. It is simple really. Also I am sorry but the jump from a horse to an automobile is substantially different. Going from a gas auto to a EV is not. Now if we are talking autonomous vehicles that is different...however we dont need electric cars for that. We can do it with gas.

I would like to see EV autonomous adopted in large cities and replace taxi/Uber services. Next maybe large cargo hauling (18 wheelers). To me these are areas where we could see large impact on a focused problem.

One does not "recharge" an EV. There is no point in undoing a charge in order to re-charge.

85kW at $0.26/kWh is $22.10. That is the average rate charged at Superchargers. Sometimes it is $0.13/kWh but for me it is free. The thing you are missing in allowing yourself to be deluded is that "Superchargers are not gas stations." You are not expected to depend on Superchargers. The purpose of the Supercharger is to make it possible to travel between cities. Is not a "gas station" for daily use. And the 16kW station you refer to is not a Supercharger.

The only 16kW "station" I can find near Forest, VA is on the BRP. And it is free at the Peaks of Otter Lodge. Most Teslas can not charge at 16kW on an AC EVSE such as this. Some early Model S can charge at 19.2kW on AC, most 9.6kW. Newer (Model S 100) can charge at 17.3kW.

A Model S 85 does not have 400 mile range.

EPA rated (and an honest rating) at 0.380 kWh/mile. At the outrageous $0.26/kWh that works out to $0.10/mile. If you pay $2.50/gallon then that is the equivalent of 25 MPG. That is only par for an equivalent gasoline car, but with the added inconvenience of slow fill. But many of us pay $0.10/kWh at home where the $2.50/gallon equivalent works out to 65 MPG.

Besides, most Model S 85 owners (such as myself) got free lifetime Supercharger subscription with the car.

Now I'm more confused than before! You are correct about the Lodge, 16kW, etc.
I just called, today is their last day open (closed for winter). On their site it shows and they said 2 ports. One in spot is an old gas truck, and BMW electric (I'm thinking).
So you get there...I assume you have to locate truck owner to move it? What if 2 E cars are using it? Then not all E cars can charge at 16kW? Even so, it takes hours.
If you're staying at lodge, and it's available...no problem (IF lodge and restaurant is open). There isn't much to do there, a lake, restaurant, gift shop.
Close to home may be ok. A trip would have to be problematic.

Once they get EV to the point where I can either drive 1000 miles on a charge or charge it up from empty to full in 3 min I will consider it. Until then it is just an inconvenience. Sure we could have a EV charging station at every corner...but if it takes an hour to charge it then useless.

That does seem to be the biggest drawback.

Last I had heard, they have not even refined recycling these batteries....
Have they accomplished it yet?
Also while I was working in Cali a few years back, Tesla had a whole warehouse of inadequate/bad batteries that they could not do anything with..... (at least that was the local gossip back then)

You don't charge it at the corner! You charge it at home! It's different.

Public chargers are just for away from home on long road trips. And you should keep one petro vehicle for that (and towing etc), anyway. Nobody is advocating that all of a family's vehicles should be EV's.

Also, what about those people who refuse to pay attention to their fuel gauge and is always running out of fuel?
