I know what you mean. I see pieces of tires laying along side the road so I quit using them too.

I never see tires from this on the side of the road, you can try one of them



I have never lost a ratchet strap, seems like the load would have to shift or the strap was over tightened, both operator error.

There was a video floating around a year or two back of someone gently rolling a rock into an S10 or Mazda pickup, may have been here but I couldn’t find it.
