Thomas; You want to hope and pray that you do not come across Mama Moose. Not when she has her calf with her. They turn aggressive and will not hesitate to do you grievous harm.
Bill- Me thinks Thomas knows about his wildlife neighbors, but I definitely agree. I unexpectedly chanced upon the "safe side" of a very agitated sow's 3 treed cub's protective perimeter.... my doberman had already bailed- broke through the slider's screen to hide under the kitchen table and my crazy coon dog mix was still up on the hill prancing about making all kinds of noise. When she stood up and took a look at me and grunted I was following the doberman's path back. All's well that ends well.
Thomas- I rarely see fisher cats around here. They are a very unpopular (theoretical animal control inserted) foreign specie around here. They are better at killing chickens than porcupines.
David- Thanks for sharing this project and also to those who have a clue's input. It kind of helps to fire up the backup neurons.
