One of my brother's has a Boomer with an aftermarket loader that can do 2 functions at once while another brother has a Boomer with a New Holland loader that cannot 2 functions at once. The difference is the aftermarket loader has a joystick directly on the valve body (assuming I am using the correct terminology) while the New Holland loader does not. I can say from using the aftermarket loader that it is really nice to do 2 functions at once when you are raising and dumping, but it is located beside the steering wheel instead of the more convenient fender mounted location. Is it safe to assume that most if not all loaders with a fender mounted joystick cannot do 2 functions at once?

I own a JD 2025r now but owned a Kubota BX before. The JD is fender mounted a will do two functions at the same time, but not as easily. The Kubota had the joystick beside the steering wheel and it was easier to do two functions. I often wonder if it’s because the joystick is much longer when mounted beside the steering wheel making it easier to do two functions.

To do two functions at once you need either a high flow pump or a second pump. My b8200 with factory loader is slow and really can only do one at a time due to pump flow.

My kh41 micro ex has 3 pumps and can do many functions at once, some times i even use my knees/feet to move levers while my hands are busy.

Some manufacturers will use hydraulic valves configured in a series-parallel connection in between the spools.

This allows the return of one function to feed the other one, which therefore allow to do 2 functions at the same time.

The joystick mounted on the valve or being cable operated, won't affect the ability to do two functions.

Matching the valve flow to the pump flow will also help a lot when doing two functions. Some manufacturers will share the same valve through a range of tractors, that will vary the flow according to size. So they just match it to the highest flow tractor.

To do two functions at once you need either a high flow pump or a second pump.

Previous threads here have discussed that. I have done it with mine, but only at higher RPMs that mean higher flow. But even then, I have to hit a certain sweet spot and it's less likely to do it with a full bucket.

Hmmm......never thought about this before. The M6040 will definitely lift & curl at the same time. It's how I get max full bucket when moving gravel. I'm usually at 1800 rpm when doing this.

my NH TC45D (factory loader)does 2 functions at the same time. I thought a boomer was like my tractor

Guess I'll have to play more with my M9540 because I have not been able to get mine to do 2 at once. My backhoe, highlift and dozer do it easy, but they are also high flow

Same with M62, it cycles faster than I want it to most of the time.

A great reason to do a demo and test of the machine at the dealer. This is one of the many things we can try out for ourselves before purchase.

Very good point. It would be really frustrating to go from a tractor that could do 2 functions to one that could not. . First time I used a loader was about 40-some years ago my in-laws' MF with some aftermarket loader that had separate sticks for raise/lower and curl/dump. Next experience was when I got a B7500 in '02. That (and two Kubotae since) had a single joystick that made doing 2 functions easy. We bought a Montana at work that has a single joystick, but pretty much refuses to double task. A real pain for anyone accustomed to using a loader that will do 2 functions.

When shopping for another tractor last year, I looked at several different tractors. Some could be manipulated easily to raise and dump, for example, to keep the bucket level. Some were almost impossible.

There is a "sweet spot" on some controllers....you have to hit the 45* between the lift and curl axis

Exactly - jchonline. I have to modulate the curl or the bucket will "close up" before its heaping. Forward, lift & curl.

I wouldn’t ever buy a machine that wouldn’t lift and curl at the same time. It would be very frustrating having to stop lifting and roll the bucket repeatedly.

I'm definitely learning something here as at times I use lift, curl and the 3rd function all at once on mine (and possibly used some of the rear remotes and/or 3pt hitch simultaneously as well ...at slow speeds while straight-line driving where I could use my left hand to do something other than steer).

While the rate of each function is slower when operating multiple functions (even at full engine RPM, which is usually where I keep it) that's something I'd expect given the hydraulic system design.

As much as I've come to use multiple functions simultaneously (especially with the loader where it's pretty much an automatic reflex) considering the potential of not being able to do so because of a machine limitation is rather ........   and :smiley_aafz: (all at the same time)

I have a boomer 24. Loader is factory. Joy stick not on the fender but up by steering wheel. I can raise/lower and curl at the same time. Takes some finesse of the stick to do it.

My B2320 with the LA304 loader has the ability to curl and lift/dump at the same time. I wasn't looking for that feature when i was shopping but It's sure nice to have.

No auto-level bucket when raising or lowering though.

Our little PT425 will lift/lower and dump/curl at the same time. Just have to move the joystick on an angle somewhere between the two axis. I didn't realize there are FELs that won't do that.

Our old IH2500b had separate handles for the lift/lower and dump/curl functions. No joystick. But I could operate both levers at the same time with one hand and get two movements at the same time.

Joystick on my Kioti is on the ledge the seat is mounted on, not on the fender. The joystick operating decal shows all the multiple functions it can do, and at just 8 gpm it does them all fine, usually at 1,800 RPM.
