His left foot was inside the line, you must run in the box or outside the line. If one foot is out, you are out. Just like football, if your toe is out of bounds, you are out of bounds. Bad throw becomes irrelevant if you’re out of the base path. Its a technicality, but it’s the rule.

Every RH batter tonight has ran the same way. No runner runs totally in the box, especially RH.

Might be the technical rule, but only enforcing it due to the first baseman reaching in front of him, in a World Series game, is poor umpiring.
I was an umpire once.

And it’s not like football out of bounds. You can step in or on the line without being out.

Good evening all. 42F for the start, temp drifted down to 39F before going up, 2 inch rain in bucket. Overcast sky all day with periods of drixxle, wind near calm in morning going 17-25 right now, high temp for day is 45F. Men's meeting to start the day, then aired up tires on explorer, they wer down to 27-28 psi. Need to put air in the front tires on the pickup. Made first fire of season, thought I might get cal to go to get bike but no call :(. Did get nap in.
Roy unplanned shut downs were extremely rare, and with the older equipment we had, problems were mainly hardware related. Rezero machine, search to correct place in program double check part still in fixture correct, and away you go :) Machines had mostly Fanuc 7m, 6m controls no too fancy to get you in trouble.
Ron, nice pic, great story on painter skill.
Don good luck with fridge.
Drew nice update, hope you get intermittent nav worked out.
RNG, and here you thought the mechanic was gone.
PJ, glad you are getting some sleep, hard to heal without it!!
Randy it is hard to plan a very uncertain future.
Drew very nice of you to pick up their tab!
David nice progress, so the main generator will be much easier to fuel as well the the propane genny.
L4N hope you beat the snow.
Prayers for all.

Got my rule book out.

Can be called out if Runner attempting to profit by running too far from the baseline, or outside the 3 ft line while advancing to 1st. (Avoiding a tag)

Fielder must not be in baseline unless reasonable chance for him to receive thrown ball. Benefit of doubt is given to the runner.

Don’t see anything about running inside the line

You can’t physically touch first base without stepping inside the line.

Seems to me the first baseman interfered by reaching across the line.

Found another one, a runner hit by a thrown ball while running on the baseline is not out.

But in the end, the call didn’t matter.

Congrats Nationals. Can’t believe they won.

Roy, sounds like a lot of work for you today to ensure everything is back up to full spec. I'm intrigued what sort of chips you cook up. Those better at puzzles than me should be able to make a guess, 50 miles from Bethel and with a training connection in Hartford - unless that was a red herring (oh, fish and chips :))

Actually, titanium chips...we're a machine shop making fan blades for jet engines...
