What's the difference between Mecicinal and the "illegal bought" stuff I knew people what people smoked YEARS ago?

The medicinal has a higher concentration of the chemical CBD, while it's only allowed a low amount of THC, which is what causes the "high".

I won some battles, but lost the war against raccoons. Just couldn't trap enough of them fast enough. Out of what should have netted 35 dozen ears of sweet corn, I am going to get none. Probably won't grow sweet corn next year, plenty of roadside stands nearby. I used to enjoy giving a lot of it away to friends and neighbors. Oh well, the cukes, peppers, tomatoes, squash, beans and beets are doing great, plenty to give away.

An electric fence would help, and is what I'm going to have to put out to keep the deer and moose away from my fruit trees. Until recently I hadn't had deer on my property in ten years or more, so I'm not complaining. We always thought that the only way to enjoy truly fresh corn was to put the water on to boil, then go out to pick it; but that's changed. They've developed new strains of corn which turns sweeter instead of starchy as it gets older.

Man I love me some sweet corn but suck at growing it. Come to think of it, I have had a small garden all but one year for the last 25 years and still am not good at it. I enjoy it but dangit it is a lot of work when I can drive four miles to town and buy it fairly cheap. I do pretty good with purple hulls. Something about getting tired of picking them then sitting in living room all night shelling them is enjoyable I guess.

Mine is all but done.. We had a banner year tho.. The only thing left growing is watermellons..
I picked 1 while we had family down & put it on the scale.. 30lbs.!! & it wasn't done growing but we wanted 1..
We have 3 more almost ready, right about that size..
The deer got a lot of the baby mellons because we counted 7 at one time.. & ended up w/ 4 that made it to maturity..

Mine's going to be "all done" soon, if it doesn't start producing something besides weeds. Some people "talk to their plants" to help them grow. I've found it's a lot more effective to put the bush hog on, park by the garden and glare at the plants; maybe even revving the engine occasionally . :D
Everything is slow this year, and now the nights are getting unseasonably cool. I may put plastic over my tomatoes just to see if it will help them start ripening.

Mine's been a mixed bag. Typically by mid-August my tomato plants are trees, and dozens of (green) tomatoes. This year they're only a couple feet tall and not much on them. Very few ripen on the vine...it just doesn't get hot enough here. Peppers were a bust, even in a greenhouse. Winter squash is kind of anemic too, but I planted it in a different place this year and that may be part of the reason. Cukes were early and unusually prolific. Beans, cabbage, broccoli, carrots, beets all on schedule. Corn should be ready an about a week and a half...again, pretty normal for up here.

I've found that milkweed is a magnet for bees, butterflies, moths and even a few hummingbirds when it's in bloom. Very fragrant! I have a couple patches that I leave un-mowed until fall.

Monarch butterflies need milkweed.
