A Thoughtful Tribute

IMG_4444.jpg

This statue currently stands outside the Iraqi palace, home to the 4th Infantry Division. It will eventually be shipped to Texas and put in the memorial museum in Fort Hood.

The statue was created by an Iraqi artist named Kalat, who for years was forced by ****** Hussein to make the many hundreds of bronze busts of ****** that dotted Baghdad. Kalat was so grateful for the American's liberation of his country; he melted 3 of the heads of the fallen ****** and made the statue as a memorial to the American Soldiers and their fallen warriors. Kalat worked on this memorial night and day for several months. To the left of the kneeling soldier is a small Iraqi girl giving the soldier comfort as he mourns the loss of his comrade in arms.

We can pass this along in honor of all our brave military who are making a difference.

73 currently was 90 today. Mid 80’s rest of week.

Took oldest into therapy today and then ran some errands before taking youngest to eye doctor. Good report there. Straight eyes and a little above average for far sightedness but still has time for that to naturally correct. No glasses needed currently.

Anybody have the Preditor 2000 generator from Harbor Freight? Or spend double for a Honda? Thinking about a small generator to run around in back of ranger. Mainly for pumping water tanks, but for other things also. I can still flip them but they’re getting harder every year. 10 years ago I used one hand. Last week had to get a shoulder under it. 100 gallon tank. Maybe I’m just picking more stable places to sit them.

Rick. Hadn’t seen that. The appreciation is nice to see.

Heard about this on radio. Glad the kid got to do it. Radio said the Case IH reps let him drive the biggest tractor they brought.

If the reviews on the HF site are good for the Predator, and you're not depending on it for anything important like running your house during a power outage, it might be worth a try.

Right now I'm relying on an older Honda 6500is to power the house and water pumps every time the local electrical utility decides that it's too windy to provide power. It has an electric starter, but it also has a recoil starter that has always got it running on the first or second pull. Nothing like the security of having belt and suspenders. If you don't want something you have to screw around with when you need it to work, the Honda is where you should spend your money.:2cents:

70 outside this AM. Heading to mid 90's today. Need some rain. I was mowing straw in spots last night. Lol. Daughter has a predator. Uses it for camping. Nice little unit. Quieter than my Honda EB. Seems ok. Likes the push start.

A couple of hours of sunshine on offer this morning before the rain starts again. I don't mind the rain, I almost got high on pvc glue solvent yesterday finishing the overflow for the water tank and would like to see if it works.

Eric, my first option would be to plug the first hole with a small set screw. See how that works before adding another grease fitting that you may not be able to get at. Another option is add a groove between all 3 holes. With outer holes plugged.

That is a good thought Ron, you are probably right that the other 2 holes would easily give sufficient lubrication. I wonder why these pins don't just have a single central hole ? Haven't tried a file test, but a little reading suggests these sorts of pins are often made from a tough steel, or are case hardened. Softening with a small torch before tapping may be possible, not sure though about my ability to harden it again if I don't know what it is made from. I suppose I could always just de-grease the hole and use thread lock instead of moly tapping compound - a broken tap would nicely block that hole :)

Eric glad our engineering/machinist experts are giving you several solutions. Such a wealth of knowledge on the Good Morning Thread.
So very true.
I enjoy reading and learning about so many things on here, even how to get rid of skunks and dissuade bears - skills I will never use - unless there is a breakout from Chester zoo

Rick, that is a very powerful sculpture.
