They don't need to anymore, between Google Earth and other technology they can see what you've done and can even drive down the road with a video, then run a program which spits out any changes.

Couple years ago I added a lean to off my barn . . . the tax person sent me the "Google Earth" shot of it thinking and charging me for the so called additional barn space . . . I had to remind them that it was just a lean to. ;)

That's just like having money in the bank, except that (so far) the government hasn't found a way to tax you on it.

But I hear they found away to tax a tractor in some towns..................

I know Im not the only one that zooms in on the pics to check things out. But it looks like the fill plug is missing from the wood splitters engine.

That is an unused port in the block that is not tapped. Here is the engine oil fill spout....just to the left of the gas tank.

Some people have a eagle eye, the pictures was so good I didn't zoom in but I guess this is what was spotted, a discontinued oil filler hole.

If not registered then it's personal property so I am supposed to declare mine and pay the applicable taxes.

Here they already tax us annually on the property the wood grows on so I sure hope they do not try to tax us again on the wood itself. Not that it has ever stopped the gubbamint before from taxing the same income or asset multiple times. I sure wish they were limited to one bite at the apple.

If you sell the wood you are supposed to declare the profits on your income tax return. Like the "use tax", AKA sales tax on private and out of state purchases, I am probably the only person in the state who actually does.

Here is a couple

Nice looking wood pile there. I wish I had a grapple on my MF but when I burn 2 or less cords per winter, I can't justify the expense plus I would need another hydraulic line and that would add to the expense.

I had a dead tree cut down and got a nice load of logs. It’s too hot to split wood now so they’ll lay around a while. The sawmill won’t take logs with the bark falling off so these are firewood. This tree was too dangerous to cut for my likings so I hired a tree guy to do it. And I was right about what was likely to happen. Luckily it was a small piece not one of the many 6” dead limbs but the cutter got hit by a piece.
