I burn it, but don't like its tendency to express its pitch.
Today was the last of the yearly firewood processing. I finished off the last of the oak for the 2020-2021 heating season. Anything that goes into the woodshed now will be from trees falling across the trails from storms.

The shed is 28' x 10' x 8' (not including the 10' peak at the center roofline). That is 2,240 cubic feet. If you are using 128 cubic feet for a well-stacked cord, that makes for 17+ cords.
As you can see in the one of the photos, I leave a path down the center and don't stack it the full length of 28'. I have about 3 heating seasons of wood according to usage averaged over the past 4 years.

That's just like having money in the bank, except that (so far) the government hasn't found a way to tax you on it.
About a year after my wife and I put up the woodshed, the tax accessor stopped by. We had built our house the prior year and he was doing a followup visit. He was all excited to get his tape measure out and measure the concrete slab and add the woodshed to the list.
Those blood suckers stop by about every 4 years out here.![]()
