Good morning!!!!

Good morning! I'm in shock this morning. I thought the remote thermometer was broke again but it actually is COLD outside. 59˚F heading to 89˚F This global warming is making me shiver.

Had a E-mail calling all tractor drivers to the gardens this morning. Something about a delivery of bagged garden Mulch. The bottled cucumbers are still producing about 10 a day and the okra and eggplant are also keeping our vegetable bins full.

This house came with a side by side refrigerator and my wife is already looking for one with more vegetable space and wider shelves.

Wngsprd, thanks for the nice green hill view.

Buckeye we are all pulling for you on your first full day in rehab.

Drew on your RV adventure will you be checking out places to retire, are you still on your 2 year plan?

Need to pour second cup of coffee. 59° with partly cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 83° with partly cloudy skies. Spreading weed killer is still on list. Wind is supposed to be less than yesterday. Need to cut lawn again. Still on the 4 to 5 day cutting cycle. Did get enough diesel to finish off this year. $2.709/gallon. Gas was $2.599/gallon for wife's car.

Buckeye, hope therapy goes better than last time. Prayers sent.

Randy, LS, Farmer and others prayers on the way.

Rick, hope your heart test are all good.

Thomas, maybe some kind of surprise for Boo Boo when he turn barrel over.

Good Morning All.

Don, yes, though really want to be closer to my original home, where life long friends are.

waiting for driver from audi dealer to pick up my car and leave a loaner, then take the deck wheel off the JD mower and
visit local JD dealer for new bushings

beautiful day here, picked my veggies early, disappointed in onions, not full size and many have rotted. Did not use local varieties and that's likely
the problem.

Good Morning!!!! 77F @ 5:00AM. Sun and clouds mixed. High 102F. Winds S at 5 to 10 mph.

Please send some of that cool air west, Don. We're baking out here, and there's no end in sight!:fiery:

Wow! That's some view, Wng! Thanks for sharing.

None of us ever got hurt during our spelunking adventures, but we sure got wet and dirty. Another place we visited, more than once, was Organ Cave. It's a commercial cave in West Virginia, rumored at the time to be the second largest in the country, after Mammoth Cave. We were allowed to explore the "wild" sections, the places with no lights or marked trails. The developed part of the cave was more memorable, with fossilized skeletons of animals and an old salt peter works from the Civil War.

In the first year here, Jay, I found bark, or glass, scorpions on the wall. That prompted re-caulking around all the windows and doors, and I haven't seen any since. Thank goodness! Hope that monster spider had her babies OUTSIDE before she found her way through that crack, oh so long ago...

Here's hopin' for good news from your heart doctor, Rick. But keep eatin' that kolache, and next time maybe you won't like what he has to say.:licking::drool::laughing:

That's a great price on Diesel, Ron. The price here has been flirting with four dollars a gallon for a while now, in part thanks to the governor's latest round of tax hikes.

Do bears like catnip, Thomas? Might be another thing to try, and if not, won't the foxes have some fun?

Out of curiosity yesterday, I went over to the Kubota web site and priced out a ~50 HP tractor. An MX series came to around $35K, and by bumping the HP to the max and adding a few more bells and whistles, I got it up to $40K. That's more than ten grand less than ol' Uncle John wants for one of his gems, and the Kubota is more tractor by a long shot. You guys aren't gonna believe this, but while I'm in town today I'm gonna swing by the Kubota dealer and see if I can put eyes on one of the MX tractors and see if they're built as stout as the advertising seems to indicate. Then maybe take the Kubota build sheet over to the JD salesman and watch his eyes bug out.:D:laughing:

My estimate of what I could get done yesterday were wildly optimistic. I did get tubing strung up over half the front of the house, and got a good start working up to the peak of the roof on the west side, but by then that side of the house was in full sun and the temps had crested 95F. Not a good recipe for a good time, what with trips up'n'down that heavy ol' extension ladder, especially when I figgered I could be taking a cool shower and a nice nap instead.

Hang in there, gang, Friday's comin'!

59 this morning and headed to 82. Weekend is warming up but still not too bad.

Finished weeding the zucchini last night. Now have okra and tomatoes to weed. But first will be planting cucumbers and more beans. 1st crop of beans are just starting to bloom. Well the ones that didn’t scald. I tilled the half of the rows that did scald. They are looking better after getting air to the roots and rid of the crust. Tilled up watermelons as I couldn’t find anything but weeds.

Was able to get new hay wagon into usable shape yesterday. Hauled 49 bales in. I have some wasp proofing and bracing ahead of me but it’s usable. Then all it will need is a speed hitch. Wife said I could do without a $700 hitch. I’ll wait a while before I order. It does need a longer tongue on the wagon as I can’t have a rear spear on. So no counter weight when stacking the top row.

Drew. What model tractor did you end up with? Dad just ordered a 2607H Massey. We’ll see what it’s like when he gets it.

Thanks for the prayers for the boy. We’re in holding pattern.

RNG the MX5200 is my main tractor. I’d like a heavier loader. That’s why I recommend the M5660 over the MX line.
Only thing I’ve done to my MX is a front wheel bearing and seal. Think I’m going to need a key switch before long though.

61 going to 85.

Got some rain Tuesday so the weeds are starting to grow again :).

Don, I looked up Inner Space Cavern...really neat! I wonder how many unknown caves are lurking underground around all of us.

RNG, when my wife and I were first married we went to a wild cave in western Virginia with an organized group. The "guide" slipped, dislocated his shoulder and we had to help him out. Since my wife was "in charge" of the group, we had to drive him across the mountain to the closest hospital...I drove her 4 speed Rabbit diesel around the steep winding roads like a road rally due to his moaning. The doctor gave him the choice of pulling it back into position (painful) or anesthesia and a night in the hospital. Our tough guide took the night in the hospital...so we didn't get to finish our one chance or exploring the cave.

Took advantage of the low humidity and mid-50s temps in the mountains early yesterday to do a loop hike up to the top of Hawksbill Mountain. Wildflowers and ferns everywhere. Thought of BEF while there, sure he's been there. Met a nice couple from eastern NC...I think the lady wanted to take Coco home with her.

Got some chainsaw work today, and mowing along with other jobs.
Nice hike

I have one jug of Wet and Forget left, and was planning to spray the roof if not too windy today!

Good luck on your test and enjoy that kolache. (Now I have to go look up kolache to find out what it is).

WNG ....... you would know them as "Pigs-in-a-Blanket".

65°F and clear skies this morning, going up to 85° today. No rain expected here until Monday. I'm good with that.

Got the gravel shoveled and wheel barrowed back into the crevice it keeps washing out of in the driveway last night. Need to look at a more permanent solution. This got old a long time ago. Wife picked up chicken feed yesterday at TSC, so I got that in the can and mixed as well.

Went online last night and bought a couple tickets to see one of my favorite bands, Dream Theater, who are coming to STL in October. The tickets through Ticketmaster are $31.50 each, and the total ended up being just under $103. Wow, talk about getting bent over on the service fees. Ridiculous. Now I remember why I stopped going to concerts.

Best wishes with rehab, BEF.

That is a fantastic view, wngsprd. And I had to look up kolache as well.

I know you mentioned you wanted to steer away from Kubota, RNG, but it does seem that they make a pretty darned good tractor. Had I gotten a better reception from our local dealer, that's probably what we would have bought. A bit pricier than LS, but the orange guys for the most part really seem to love their tractors.

walked out of JD parts dept empty handed, wasn't a bushing I need, it was an axle... Really? for that little plastic wheel?
13 dollars apiece too? No thank you. Nothing more than a simple non hardened steel bushing and to charge 13 bucks for that is
just stupid. I'll figure out another solution.

off to mow roadsides on a nice day.
