btw, on the way home, I'm stopping in Colorado for family, then just touristing East until St Louis, always wanted to see the arch, and I know
just the guy to show it to me. ;)
Not heading further North, will miss Idaho, etc but one of my closest friends has done that trip four times now, with full shared pics each time, plus he's
a very good photographer.

Once I get to California, not sure if I'll go to Hawaii. I'm not getting any younger and I may never get to do this again.
Would go by boat only. Adds a lot of time, but maybe, just maybe, after working my butt off for two years growing vegetables for others,
I should take more time for myself...
It's not how I'm wired though, would be like trying to retire all over again.
Need to stay busy, if I physically can, and be productive.

A smaller home with a nice woodshop where I can build birdhouses is definitely in the plans.
Where I will think of Ed with his lathe and hope
he is having fun. And building something neat I hope he will show us some day.

Good morning! 70˚F heading to the low 90s. One more day of cool temps and they jump up ten degrees to the norm.

About 10 miles from our house, when they were building Interstate 35 in 1963, they drilled a soil testing hole and found a cavity underground. It is now called Inter Space caverns and we took a mile walk through them yesterday about 70' under the freeway. They found fossils of extinct Texas animals that had gotten trapped in the cave. Before the drilling they estimate all the natural openings were closed for 14000 years. Water was dripping everywhere and it is still an active cave with the stalactites and a stalagmites growing an inch every 100 years.

Drinking first cup of coffee. 56° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 79° with mostly sunny skies. Got detoured on my projects. Forgot I had not done any pond maintenance. Got that done. Then decided to walkway and drive edging. Got it done. Put weed killing and pulling on today's list. Need to refill diesel tank. It's down to 5 gallons.

Enjoyed the patriotic post.

Buckeye, prayers that your conditions starts to improve.

Drew, nice workshop is great to have. With the tools to do all desired projects.

David, I have 3 screens that need repair. Bought new screen. Found out it was wrong type. They are aluminum instead of fiberglass. Bought screen repair tape. A temporary fix. But no bugs. I did get the correct aluminum material. But cannot get myself to do the project.

Don, I like to do cave tours.

Good Morning All.

Good morning all. This African air is starting to significantly warm up the inside of the house. We are well past the point where the butter would be liquid if it wasn't now confined to the fridge. Thunderstorms lit up the sky for half of the night and the heavy rain they brought forced me to close the roof lights, so we haven't been able to cool off. Sleep has been in short supply, although I suppose the up side is that I can take a nap this afternoon without feeling too guilty.

I have a pin on my loader which is not taking grease and can't take it out to figure out why as I don't have the right size circlip (snap ring) pliers. A pair with interchangeable tips made by a company called Lang tools in Wisconsin is on order. Quite expensive compared to those originating in the Far East, but hopefully good quality and the last pair I should ever need.

Wng, like ours, that's a heck of a deficit. Hopefully my plier purchase will go some way to getting yours back on track ;):)

Eric, have you seen or tried one of these grease fitting rejuvenator kits?

https://www.amazon.com/Innovative-Products-America-7862-Rejuvenator/dp/B000JFL7TY

I got mine at Northern Tool for about $25 as I recall.

The upper rear pins on the Bush Hog 5045 installed on my New Holland have issues every so often and this tool has resolved it. I fill it with some Fluid Film and it's worked every time.

Drew wife wanted the Alaska trip I would much prefer driving the country like your plans. Maybe next time.wife wants to head to Europe next, nope, there are plenty of great things to see and explore right here never did have interest in going to another country.
Toppop good to see you are improving.
Farmer sorry to hear about your son, hard being a parent of sick little one no matter how old they get.

Good Morning! It's a very nice 69°F this morning with a cloudless sky. Forecast says 90°F this afternoon.

I mIxed a 3% batch of RM43 glyphosate / Imazapyr, surfactant, and blue dye yesterday but, the wind stayed at 8-10 mph+ all day. So .... maybe today.

The local fuel jobber finally got out our way to fill my 300 gallon bulk diesel tank. I ran it completely empty Friday, filling the Kubota ZT and it only got half full. Both tractors needed fuel as well.

BEF ..... you're in our prayers to get this resolved.

Don .... The IS Caverns are on our list.

Drew .... maybe we can get the entire Texas Crew together, in one place, so you can buy us all lunch?

Hope everyone has an excellent "Hump Day".

Prayers to all.

Good Morning!!!! 73F @ 5:45AM. Plentiful sunshine. High 103F. Winds SW at 5 to 10 mph.

Same forecast as yesterday, only hotter. Not much change in the ten day, either.:muttering:

What will they think of next, Rick? Thanks for passing along the info on the grease fitting unclogger. Amazon also showed one made by Lincoln, which has a very funny two star review (the long winded one): https://www.amazon.com/product-revi...e=UTF8&filterByStar=two_star&showViewpoints=0

Used to explore wild caves in Kentucky, Virginia and West Virginia when I was much younger. One trip leader's favorite trick was to pass gas in long, narrow crawls, a trick he found hilarious and no one else did.:yuck: Best trip started with a 40' rappel at the entrance, into a room that was chock full of formations. We started at about 9PM, the rest of the cave was also well decorated, and then had to use Jumar ascenders to climb the ropes back out. Popping out of the hole into a winter wonderland was a surprise, as there was no snow when we started. It was coming down hard, and the crystals sparkled in the light of our carbide lamps.

Been putting off a screen repair for some five years now. Gee, fellas, thanks for the reminder.

By some miracle, I found the paint used for the trim on the house, and it was still OK after a ride on the paint shaker machine. Took two coats to cover the first fascia board yesterday, so today while the big ladder is still in place, I can string the tubing for the sprinkler system. Won't get to try it out until the paint has had a day or two more to bake out. So more wire brushing and priming is on the agenda for today, but I think I can reach most of it while standing/sitting on the roof.

Yet another contractor sent by PG&E, the electrical utility, came to inspect the power line easement yesterday. This was the third time this year, and guess what? No further trimming is needed. Coincidentally, I received a legal notice from PG&E stating that I have until October to file a claim for damages against them for the Camp Fire, as the judge in their bankruptcy proceedings has set a deadline for applying. I've received a small payment from my insurance company for lost trees, but it covered only a small fraction of what was lost. So if I can figure out how to file without hiring an attorney, I'll start counting dead trees on satellite images and see what happens.

Happy Hump Day, gang!
