Why do people not want to work?

Jumped freight trains. Had a leg cut off, and sewed it back on, AND showed up for work. Tough as nails. lol

Have I ever mentioned the time that I-

Never mind, I give up. There's no way that I can top that one. :D

An alternate position:

"They deem me mad because I will not sell my days for gold; and I deem them mad because they think my days have a price."

We're doing bloody good down here Mate.

What freedoms have been given up?

Here in the states, It seems like we have given up the right to self determination. Heck, we can't even put down a cow, horse or dog without "professional" approval and oversight. A pity, but I suppose enough people made a poor job if any of it, that "something had to be done". snark!

I have always wanted to visit down your way. My brother lived there and 2 of his kids were born there before moving back to the US. In many respects I think he wished he stayed, he liked it there. Great place as I understand.

I've visited a couple of times.

The East coast, and the Gold coast remind me of southern California. The west end reminds me of San Francisco without the bustle and glitz.

I've not visited the interior, but from what I read, It reminds me of ****. The north edge, nearest Indonesia, holds interest, but I'm sure it's too bloody hot for me! ;-)

Taz may be ideal except I'm attached to our 2nd!

Lou. Someone that still makes the world function!

The bubblewrapped ones would have shut that operation down. Heck, it wouldn't have made it past the safety meeting.

What a changed world. If you worked outside of an office, your last contact with home was when you left in the morning and wouldn't likely happen again until you returned. Life worked without all that meaningless communication AND apparently we were less stressed than today.

Yep... even as kids we were on our own and knew we had to head home when the factory whistle sounded at 5 pm...

Personally... I could not take being micro managed... some I work with go into fit if a call to their husband goes to voice mail or they call saying they should be leaving the office and I will expect you home in 10 minutes...

Phones for some have become an electronic leash...

Back when I had a company pager I could actually respond quicker around the Hospital... now with cell it doesn't work in areas with lead shielding... sometimes conversations are overheard and by the time it takes to answer a call and explain I could have started the work at hand...

To this day... it is a continual problem in that my home is in an area of poor coverage... yet people expect instant access 24/7
