Odd how? That family will never be the same and God help that father. I can't imagine the depth of **** to live knowing you killed your child.

Wow, I can't imagine being that father and what he is feeling right now.

Not odd.

"The golf cart was not directly in front of the girl's father when she was hit but was around 45 to 90 degrees to his left, Colledge told KSL."

"Shanks", where the ball's travel direction is 45 to 90 degrees from the planned path are not odd. They regularly occur in golf.

There's hundreds of incidences like this (and that's just the ones captured on video clips) that show golf balls coming off of shot at a 45-90 degree angles. Usually its hits someone's cart, or in the b*lls, etc.. and the funny video gets posted, life goes on.

Did the father never, or ever see anyone in his golfing career, shank a drive? No way he didn't.

Parking the cart in front of where he's hitting a hard ball, where the average golfer's club head speed is 90 mph is a formula for (eventual) disaster.

Totally preventable.

Sad.

I agree. I can't believe people standing around the pros golfing....yes, they are pros....but, I would still be BEHIND the ball.

One of my older sister's best friend was killed accidentally by a kid (brother or neighbor, I can't remember) when they were playing with golf clubs in the backyard and she ran up behind the kid right as he took a swing. Hit her right in the temple and killed her instantly, from what I was told. She was about 8 years old.

Similar thing happened to my Brother-in-Law. It was serious, but he did survive.
