I saw some Ag implement with the (Not For Highway Service) tires going up the highway the other day behind a pu, must have been doing 100k!

I had a customer tow a DR field and brush mower like the type you tow behind a atv or garden tractor 35 miles behind their pickup truck to my shop for engine repairs.

Did it need even more repairs when it got there then when he left his house?

Not sure if this has ever been on here.

Go to 4:30. Kind of boring, guy follows it, and skid marks for miles on phone with 911.

You can't cure stupid - RV drags Pickup 6 miles - YouTube

Few things demonstate how stupid ones EGO can be and how foolish it can make you look.

Good thing, he had that curtain on the back of the RV. Wouldn't want to damage the p/u!

At least it was raining, or the thing could have caught on fire.

No, but I was surprised that the lawnmower tires, and wheels/bearings survived the trip.

I'm arguing that people should be expected to keep their vehicles safe and giving examples of how people don't know or care that they aren't.
Why do the people need to maintain their vehicles since the government is doing the state inspection for them? Isn't that what the inspection is for?

Some people actually see it this way, so maybe if the inspections are done away with they'll do their own inspections?

Note: This is intended to be a sarcastic comment. Personally, I don't think the inspections make much difference, those that will maintain their equipment will do so with or without the required inspection and those that don't won't.

Last week saw neighbors go by on county road with the back of the SUV open towing their trash can down the highway for trash day.. I will never be able to get a photo but they have done it a number of times, I'm guessing those plastic wheels aren't going to hold up very long with that abuse.. dead end, so just local traffic.

My neighbor tows his and another neighbor's cans about 1/2 mile each way down their gravel drive every week. Never witnessed an issue.

Around here the garbage company owns the cans and will replace if they fail so I doubt he's concerned about how long the wheels last.

Humor a country boy here. :cowboy:

Why does the back of the SUV need to be open? Why does he have to haul his can down the highway for trash pick up?

If there's no turnaround space down a dead end, then the garbage hauler will require cans be hauled out to the county road. After knocking down my mailbox and crunching the neighbor's fence while backing up, several times, the local hauler moved his pickup point up to the nearest intersection where he can turn and go out that other lane. Me, this little farmhouse is so old there was never a building permit so I'm invisible to the County (except taxes!) so I've never been required to sign up for garbage service. I simply carry trash back to my primary home in the city. Every week I hear the neighbor across from my mailbox haul his trash and recycle bins up to that intersection.

If inspections are meaningless then we ought to consider getting rid of all of them, even for trucking. And while we're at it, let's do away with driver certification as well.

Driver certification... Western Europe is flooded with Eastern European trucking companies who got their drivers license by saving up airmiles or something. They drive for days on end without rest, turn their truck on the middle of a highway when they missed their exit (people got killed by driving into them) and all kinds of utterly stupid stuff.

Most trucking unions call for more protection against unqualified Eastern European drivers, and to prove their point, they have bought their underage sons Eastern European drivers licenses on the black market.

Just saying, licenses cost money but (if the system is working) but they also protect licensed drivers from clowns that give the rest a bad name.

Those clowns have a habit of overloading their cars, too.

The SUV does not have a trailer hitch, the can is tied to the latch for the rear hatch.. Waste Management refuses to come up our road (turn around at end and also several driveways available. They said they one curve is hazardous and they don't want to endanger drivers, so those that choose trash service, haul their cans to the highway and back once a week.

I do that, but at 5mph for 300 yards. Photo is of the strap & 3d printed hook I made to do it. I've since adjusted it so the can is 8" or so off the ground. It scuffs the bumper, mostly when turning. But it's a truck & has over 100k on it now, it's got scratches already. I had issues with the buckles comming loose & leaving the can half way down the driveway a bit. Now solved though.

Beats lifting the can in & out of the bed when I grab it on my way down the driveway comming home. 20190308_181039.jpg

I have a 600 foot private road and do that often. The green bin handle hooks/snaps perfectly over the 2" hitch ball and at times leave the hatch open to be aware of what's going on. If my wife is doing the duty in her hitchless vehicle she'll open the gate and have one of the kids sit and hang on to the bin. More often than not I just carry the bins in tractor bucket.

Anything wrong with a little excercise?

I recently saw a program proclaiming all the benefits of walking. I have been getting the mail on foot, rather than using the E-Gator. I had justified it by thinking that I get enough excercise, but you really can't get enough.

Its amazing what people will do to avoid doing it properly.

Nice set up on the tractor carrier
