Chilly out this AM. Another t-Storm blew through last night. Seems to be a mid-summer pattern we are in. Don't need the water, been saying that since last year.

Mpham - reminds me of any project here on the farm. The more you get into it, the worse off it looks. New wood is in your future. Best of luck with it.

When the grass dries out, cutting time today. Seems I have been on a mower or weed whacking every day now for a week. LOL.


Neighbor has been taking hay, but only does six round bales every other day. He is timing the rain showers.

Yup, rotten roof boards make life difficult when you want to put on new shingles. Have the same problem in my giant boathouse. Getting quotes, and one guy said I should sheet the whole roof first with plywood! Building a platform across the open span of the boathouse underneath so I can go up on scaffolding and have a look from the inside. Lotta work, but I can use the 20' PT 2 x 8's for the dock decking after. But Mpham, your situation is much worse - good luck with it!

Mpham, almost looks like a lot of damage. Check for termites.

Mpham, that does look like typical termite damage. Might want to call an exterminator. before you do any repair.

Kyle have you tried to use over ripe bananas as an ice-cream base. it will take on the flavors you add. Start by freezing the bananas.

A sunny good morning the back porch is in full sun in the morning and the temp is already 82 there but officially 74˚F, heading to the mid nineties. Could be a pool day.

Good morning to all! Low of 52, going up to 82. More storms for this afternoon possible. Started storming yesterday about 1:30pm, got just under a 1/2" in the gauge. Little bit of hail came down, only pellet sized. Foggy this morning...plenty of moisture for storms.

MPHAM, that doesn't look good...do the adjacent rafters look as bad?

Rip, glad to hear you and the family are doing OK.

Ok, the frozen yogurt came out really good but......it did not "aerate" well like store bought. The little electric ice cream maker is designed to stop running once the batch gets thick.

Anyway, my wife and daughter loved it. It was very low fat, and low sugar. Still had that greek yogurt twang, and although we put a tablespoon of sugar on the strawberries, they still had some tartness.

Nice pics Ric. I will bet that AC cab felt good. We had a heat index of 104 the day before here. Yesterday felt as bad.

Kyle ..... only thing better than an A/C cab ..... would be frozen yogurt in an A/C cab.

50 to start the day with a big blue sky and barely a breeze. Just finished our morning walk, seen several Sandhill Cranes.

Not sure what the plans are for today, but I think it'll have something to do with the yard.

55°F and cloudy skies this morning, going up to 81° today. More rain coming starting tomorrow for like the next year-and-a-half or something. Jeez, we really could use a break from the water around here.

Got lots of stuff done over the weekend. Lots of mowing, and a bunch of piddly things I've been pushing aside for too long. Neighbors horses were "supervising" again. Pulled the tractor out Saturday afternoon and washed it. Man, was it dirty, and just from sitting. Was finally able to get out in the pasture to get it cut yesterday. First time this year. Some of the grass was four to five feet tall. On the bright side, other than about four thistle plants I saw, it's all good grass out there now.


Met up with a bunch of friends Sunday evening at The Lemp Mansion Restaurant in STL for their all-you-can-eat family-style fried chicken dinner. There was way too much food, and it was all delicious. It was also great fun hanging out with my strange musician friends (4 guitar players, 2 bass players, 2 drummers, 1 club owner, and wives and girlfriends). Haven't done that for awhile. (Wife and I sitting under the mirror)

66°F and .91 inches rain. At least my trench is getting compacted. Weather will affect what I do this morning. Still a lot of clean up in garage and shop. Off to town this afternoon.
