Good evening all. 56F this morning clear, light wind. Wind stayed light, sky stayed clear, and high temp of 78F. Today was mostly putter day, cleaned up back porch, front porch and side sidewalk, opened up wife sink drain (had a lot of hair). Also worked on pushing out the route for tomorrows ride in Muenster. While napping wife got truck stuck trying to get another truck unstuck. Other truck owner called tow truck, had to remove front air dam to avoid damage, after dinner, unloaded tools and replaced air dam.
Happy birthday Ted and Thomas!!:drink:
Kyle hoping you are continuing to recover.
RNG get some sleep tonight!!
Drew sorry about your hot tub, that is a lot of water.

Good morning all. I won't be hanging around outside any more than I need to today, a storm is coming in from the Atlantic, bringing gale force winds and lots of rain. We need the rain and I suppose even high winds have their uses, pruning out weak branches that would otherwise later be coming down on our head at the slightest tremor from our footsteps.

Thanks for posting those planting pics Drew, I've not seen cigarette seedlings before. After reading a little on tobacco plants, I see there is the potential for using it as food with less nicotine than a tomato, though vested interests may be keeping it out of Don's plant based recipes. Food from Tobacco A Well Kept Secret | American Council on Science and Health

Good to hear you are steadily getting there Bups.

My wife's fracture has healed well, but she did it at the point where all the upper arm muscles are attached and they give her some grief after each therapy exercise. They are working though, I no longer prepare our meals - something we are both grateful for !

up early like Buppies, nice day ahead, low fifties going up to high seventies.
Helper coming all day, hope to get lots done.

Eric, that article is 27 years old, showed a lot of promise for alternative tobacco uses, I bet industry squelched it.
Article said cigarettes were, at that time, the most profitable commodity being sold, wonder if that still holds up.
The market expansion into India, SE Asia and China apparently is almost unlimited. Thanks for posting that link, I'm sending it to local
ag agent, since the test trial was done here in NC.

Ag agent said workers have to wear gloves, or you get sick from handling the tobacco plant, "green disease" or something, simple
nicotine poisoning. Farmer got sick from it, doc said if you smoked, touching the plant wouldn't bother you, but don't smoke...

Hope you all have a fun and safe weekend.

41 right now...high in the mid-40's and rain (as if we need more rain!)
I'll be going to a gun show in Rutland Vermont today. Not to look or buy, but to help out with the Gunowners of Vermont distributing brochures and whatever else is necessary. I haven't been to a gun show in years. Haven't found good deals in any of them in years...

28 °F and going to a high of 39. Wind NW 29 gusting to 42 mph. Snow ending around noon.
The snow and cooler temps will slow the melt down. This is a good thing.

I cleaned up my man cave yesterday and installed the new bed. Should've kept the old one. The first time I laid on it there was a big bang. Couldn't find the problem (didn't look too hard). Got up as usual for a p in the middle of the night and when I went back to bed there was another bang. I got up a few minutes ago and found the problem....Busted the bottom support that goes lengthwise on the outside and forms the bottom support for the drawers.
I WILL be claiming either a replacement part OR a replacement bed. But this time they can set it up.

A dump run is in the cards for today and bark at the manufacturer of this bed.

Happy weekend all, stay safe.

49 going to 70 and clear as a bell.

Yesterday morning's rain dried up quickly in the scattered sun and strong winds...so I got 3 hours of mowing done before the storm hit. For us it was mostly wind, some showers, but nearby it rained pretty hard. Eric, I have lots of those "wind pruned" branches to go clean up this morning.

Hope everyone feels better today!

57 degrees this morning, going for a high of 85 with a slight chance of showers today. I went to Walmart and Sam's Club to do the grocery shopping yesterday morning, then to Buc-ee's for gas and car wash. And yesterday afternoon, after the dew dried off of the grass, I mowed, edged, and trimmed the yard. I need to apply some fertilizer on the yard, and I need to apply some insecticide, but I have a small problem. There's a cottontail rabbit living under our patio and she recently had her second young ones. Now I know they are worthless, but I'd still hate to poison them.

Tomorrow will be our 54th wedding anniversary and I've been trying to decide where to take my wife to celebrate, but that got solved yesterday. Our grandson, and his wife to be, live way our west (Odessa) and are coming to our daughter's today for the weekend, and want us to go there tomorrow for lunch.

Eric thanks for the tobacco link. Interesting about the protein, I wonder if you can just put tobacco leaves in a salad, has anyone tasted them?

Good Morning!!!! 63F Sunshine and a few afternoon clouds. High around 85F. Winds S at 5 to 10 mph.

Marijuana has probably replaced tobacco as the crop with the highest return, Drew. That works on several levels... Makes me wonder how long it'll be before big ag moves in takes the market away from all the little mom'n'pop growers.

Found a plug had come loose from the fuse panel on the van yesterday, explaining the loss of horn and headlights, and intermittent behavior of fuel gauge. Easy fix, but only because of a hunch that it would turn out to be one of the last few things I'd worked on. The fuse panel doesn't come out easy, and I was lucky that the plug chose that moment to part company completely, instead of continuing to partly cling and hide the problem.

Got a good start on wrapping and securing the engine wiring harness, something I'd been dreading. The ex-mechanic had left a real snakes nest of bundles and fine wires going everywhere, mixed in with vacuum and, as I would learn by mistake, fuel lines. Yep, gas everywhere when I mistook one for the other. Got the worst of it sorted out, so there will be no more shiny spots where bundles have been rubbing on the axles and the smell of burning plastic from others resting on the exhaust headers. I need more electrical tape before I can finish. Did you guys know that 3M electrical tape comes in at least two thicknesses? Gonna try some of the thicker stuff to see if it sticks any better than the 33 stuff I've been using.

Then I hooked up the cigarette lighter outlet I'd installed in the dash more than a year ago so I can keep the phone charged while traveling. Finished the day by washing the floors again, which had become filthy from sitting outside. Think I'll try to find some old mats to put in this morning to save the paint from more damage.

This morning I'll put some gear in the van and drive it to a camp out with the VW bus and motorcycle group at a lake just north of Placerville. Since the inside of the van is still rather bare, I'll be taking a tent. Won't be much different from going on a bike, except for the larger tool box and big ice filled cooler.:laughing:

Hope everyone enjoys the weekend!

   / Good morning!!!! #92,978
Its 28° for the low this morning. We had rain showers off and on most of yesterday with a high in the mid 50's. Today is going to be partly cloudy and a high in the low 60's and the wind 20-30 mph.

Happy Birthday... Ted and Tomas

Bird ... Hope you have a great anniversary tomorrow.

Went for a ride up the hill before the rain started. I can see why it took the neighbor most of the day to get to the top. There is still a lot of deep snow drifts on the road.

I have a few little things I plan on doing today.

Hope everyone has a good weekend.
CWB.

Good morning to all! Low of 42, going up to 78 again but sunny, crystal clear this morning. Trees are popping their leaves, flowers blooming... I think spring finally became official here!

Last Sunday it was official that I sold my little LS MT125 TLB and all the implements. The plan was to stay tractorless for a while until after we moved. Being that was a big 'when' and could be a long while before we actually move, we decided that I could begin to do my research for a new tractor. It was already narrowed down to Kioti and LS. It was quickly decided to go with LS, so called 4 different dealers. We are about the same distance from all of them....between 450 to 550 miles away.

One dealer didn't call me back even after calling him twice...poor business practice, he could have at least given a base price. Another dealer gave a "discounted" price straight off. Third dealer said up front he couldn't beat the discounted price. The fourth was the charm. He was the furthest away, but was the most aggressive to make a deal. A couple of days of negotiations and he came through big time! Put a package together including delivery at a price that couldn't be beat.

Not knowing at the time, but I had been dealing with one of the owners of a true "family business". I cannot say anything but praise RCO tractor down in Austin Tx. ! No frills negotiations, no pressure, great personal experience.

We got the "approval" for the financing yesterday, signed the papers, and sent our deposit yesterday. Wifey said "happy birthday"....yes it was! They will start putting it together next week and possibly delivered by the end of the week.

I stepped up a couple of sizes to an XG3025 w/ loader and backhoe, and rear remotes. I didn't think I would miss having a tractor, but now I'm like a kid...can't wait for it to get here!

Everyone have a great weekend! Prayers sent.
