Historically your only option was to start from a dead stop in your intended gear. Tractors generally top out at around 15mph. 20hp is capable of doing that. A little rough on the clutch, but less so than the ride of a tractor at 15mph on anything less than nice road. While you can in theory double clutch unsynchronized transmissions aren't that conducive to it at tractor speeds. You really can't double clutch & shift fast enough before the tractor comes to a stop due to it's high rolling resistance.
