Need to understand if NH TC26DA can handle 5 rotary Cutter over 4 any one share insight from first hand experience. Any specifications on rotary cutter would be recommended.

What does your Owners Manual recommend?

What is the HP at the PTO? My 5ft rotary states 25HP minimum at the PTO and that is exactly what I have with a gear trans on a TC-30. If you are just cutting grass you might be OK.

My Ford 1310 tractor has 16.5 hp at the PTO and for the last 25 years we have ran 4 foot wide JD 413 brush hog with it.

It's a pretty good match but anything wider would be too much in a field of thick & tall hay.

I bought this setup from JD dealer and the old salesman at the time refused to sell me wider brush hog - turned out he was right!

I thank everyone for their input. Dealer in Montpelier, OH - Superior Farm Supply sold me RC5 Woods mower at very very reasonable price-blue in color to match the tractor. The RC5 needs minimum of 18 HP to run or ability to lift the 575 lbs. Since I had 914A finish mower on the tractor I had to reverse the pins to the inside on the RC5 unit. It hooked up quite nicely - no need to shorten PTO shaft have over 6" of travel. The TC26DA handled the RC5 without issue - not sure I would venture into 2'-3' tall weeds with 914A finish mower deck on but under 2' feet it works well. Plenty of horsepower no issues.

I think you made a wise choice. I have a 5 foot RFM on my tc26DA and wish I had gone for 6 foot. On a smooth lawn at high speed, a 6 foot mower might be too much, but at the speeds I can go here, it would have been fine.

As long as you areen't cutting max diameter brush with the thing, you should be fine. Not covering the tires would be a nuisance IMHO.

I run a 5' on the 2400. If I get in real heavy grass I either slow down or if I don't feel like doing that, I just move over and don't cut a full swath.

The terrain traveled, the vegetation cut, and tractor/rig balance all need to be considered in rotary cutter choice. The 5HP/foot "rule" is only a basic "guide." The 26DA will run a 5' rotary cutter.

I have a TC24D. I run a 4' cutter with it. Depending on what I'm cutting I can "go full speed" with it or I'm just barely creeping along. I've even been able to stall it out in some tall thick grasses. So like others have said, it all depends on what you are cutting.
